hello all,

Does anyone have experience with a good, Latin Mass church in this area they’d recommend?

Thanks,

St Catherine of Siena in Great Falls has a Latin Novus Ordo.

St. Veronica in Chantilly has a Latin Novus Ordo.

St. Mary’s downtown in DC has a Traditional Latin Mass.

I believe that is it as far as Latin Masses go.

Last I checked, the Diocese of Arlington did not allow the Tridentine Mass. This may have changed with the Motu Proprio. I dont know of any Tridentine Masses in Northern Virginia. The only one I know about is in DC.

The Latin Mass is said regularly throughout the Arlington Diocese. Please private message me and I can put you in contact with a friend who does a list/loop of offerings of TLM in the Arlington Diocese.

Fortunately, you are incorrect: we are teeming with TLM’s.

St. Lawrence (Alexandria) and St. John the Evangelist (Warrenton) both offer Sunday TLM’s as directed by Bishop Loverde.

St. John the Beloved (McLean), St. Michael (Annandale), Holy Trinity (Gainesville), and St. John the Baptist (Front Royal) all offer weekly TLM’s on their own. St. Mary’s in DC offers a weekly TLM and it’s not difficult to get to.

Other parishes offer TLM’s on other days during the week. My home parish, for example, (St. Rita’s in Alexandria) just started offering the TLM on Thursdays. The TLM will also be celebrated this Wednesday evening (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) and I’m sure it’s to introduce the TLM to people who don’t normally come out on Thursdays.

St. John the Baptist in Front Royal is a lovely church, and they have a killer schola: they sing a polyphonic service. Well worth the drive from DC. 👍

I haven’t been there yet, but if I finish my final paper for school I’ll make the trip there this weekend.

Holy Trinity in Gainesville also has the Tridentine Mass every Sunday at 12:30. The schola is great. Fr. Wooton also occasionally does a solemn high mass. Breathtaking.

Check it out.
