Hello,

I am exploring a possible call to the religious life and am searching for convents that adhere to pre-Vatican II traditions but are still in communion with the Church and the Vatican. I prefer a community that celebrates the Holy Mass and the Divine Office in the traditional Latin form.

I have found a Carmelite community in NE, and a Benedictine community in Kansas City but have now hit a roadblock.

Does anyone know of additional convents in the US that celebrate the Holy Mass and the Divine Office in the traditional Latin form?

I would appreciate your help and your prayers!

God bless!

Thank you! I did find this in my research but ruled them out because they have not yet established locations in the US…and unfortunately I don’t speak Italian!

But thank you for your response!

On EWTN’s 'Life on the Rock" show last week there was a small group of nuns that had previously held the sedevacantist view and belonged to a traditionalist order, but came to the conclusion that they were wrong. A small number of them regularized their canonical situation and started a new traditional apostalate.

I’ll try and dig up more info if I can, but someone else might read this and have some more info as well.

Thanks for the reply!

I did not see the program on EWTN (although I love EWTN), but I suspect you’re referring to:

Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church
6910 S. Ben Burr Road
Spokane WA 99223
sistersofmarymotherofthechurch.org

From the website it appears that they celebrate the NO Mass…but I’m not confident. I need to send them an email. Did they mention on the show if they still adhere to the traditional forms?

Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church are very active at my children’s school as are the four sisters that inspired them to come return to the Church who are Missionaries of Charity (Blessed Theresa’s order)
If you truly believe you are being called traditionally, check out the following link, this is the order that the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church came from right here in Spokane. I have seen nothing but good from this fine community. Also do a web search for north Idaho there is a traditionalist community that I see flying regularly in and out of the airport where I work, and I know some of these priests very well, if you are interested I can do a bit of data mining from one of them and get some info should you want it!

This is a sedevacantist group.

Thanks so much! This is extremely helpful. I have not heard of anything in north Idaho, so if you are able to locate any information I’d appreciate it.

Are the CMRI in communion with Rome?

Opiemuyo,
I am unclear about whether St. Michael’s in Spokane is in union with the magesterium. Could you clarify that?
Thanks!
In Christ,
Jennifer

Y’all,
St. Michael’s and CMRI are sedevacantists. Really, they are. 🙂

You’re right. I looked at the website. Thanks for clarifying.

I appreciate traditionalism, but I also recognize Pope Benedict XVI as the Supreme Pontiff!

Thanks for letting us know. I bought a series of wonderful musical cds from the Daughters of Mary and later discovered they were sedevacantists. I still enjoy the cds, but now I pray they will one day be reunited with the Church.:signofcross:

Out of curiosity, how can you tell? What are the warning signs? I went to the website and the only thing I noticed was a conspicuous absence of any reference to the Holy Father 😛

The Daughters of Mary in Round Top, NY??? I have their CD’s too!! Are you sure?

If you click on the “sisters” link on the St Michael’s website, it leads you to a description of the sisters and a link to the CMRI website which clearly states they are sedevacantists

Usually a website will have an “About Us” or “History” link. Sometimes you can find out there. If those are vague, looking at the requirements for candidates may reveal whether or not they are in communion with the Church. For example, the Daughters of Mary Mother of Our Savior stipulate that a candidate cannot be associated with the “Norvus Ordo Church.” They also have a link to the St. Pius V Society.

😉 The main CMRI website has a whole “About Us” page filled with FAQs and articles defending sedevacantism. They’re loud 'n proud about it.

Yes, I’m sorry to say. Check out their website:
daughtersofmary.net and then go to the FAQ’s and click on What qualities are necessary to be accepted?
I was really bummed when I saw that, but as I said, I’m praying they come home.

This is SO disappointing. Thanks for the heads-up
