I have a particular need and want to pray to someone who is in the process of being canonized. Do you have any suggestions who I might pray to?
 
Blessed André Bessette is to be canonized October 17th. He is the one who brought about St. Joseph’s Oratory in Canada, and he was known all over Canada and elsewhere for many miraculous healings through his prayer. He sometimes anointed an area of the body in need of healing using blessed oils that burned in front of St. Joseph’s statue, or else he recommended rubbing the area with a medal of St. Joseph. If you have an infirmity that is in need of prayer, he’s very powerful.

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. A great example for Catholic men, for young Catholics, and for Catholic workers.
 
When you say ‘in the process of being canonised’ do you mean a Venerable or Blessed who is waiting for that last miracle or miracles before they are declared Saint? If so, Mother Teresa and John Paul II are two obvious examples. Same with the dearly loved John XXIII.

I’d like to see Venerable Matt Talbot (patron against alcoholism) canonised as well - so many people have surely been helped through his patronage.
 
How about Fr. Solanus Casey? He has been declared Venerable, and many miracles have been associated with him while he was alive. I believe he is also the first United States-born man to be declared Venerable.

As far as Venerables go, Pius XII is at the top of my list.
 
In terms of persons who are still waiting even to be styled Venerable, Fr. William Doyle, S.J., the “Trench Priest,” heads my list. This amazing priest served the Royal Dublin Fusiliers as their chaplain during World War I, and was killed at the Battle of Ypres in 1917 while ministering to the dying. He was known before his military service for his zeal for souls and his charity, and during his service for his utter selflessness and disregard for his own safety. He left behind an extraordinary body of spiritual writings, which were found after his death, and also wrote a book on vocations that is still in print. His cause for sainthood has been stalled for years, though it is said that many favors have been gained through his intercession.

P.S.: he was devoted to St. John Vianney, who, in his time, was still Bl. John Vianney; and he was a disciple of St. Therese of Lisieux, though he did not live even to see her declared Venerable.
 
All the suggestions given are excellent! Wonderful examples of holiness to us.

I’ll second dear Father Newman – so brilliant, so humble, so strong in faith!
