BTW, Wiki has a good article on euphoniums. I play an old Conn 86I 4-valve upright bell that was made as a prototype in 1923, which makes it only 11 years younger than my father.
I assure you that I will get on topic. Really?!? Have you had any work done on it? How’s the intonation? I play a Meinl-Weston 451S which, of course, doesn’t have half the classic appeal as yours. How often do you play it?

There is a Redeemer
My Faith Looks up to Thee
How Great Thou Art
Precious Lord
It Is Well With My Soul
Just a Closer Walk with Thee
I Know That My Redeemer Lives
Lord, I Lift Your Name on High
Be Thou My Vision (also)
Holy Holy Holy
The Old Rugged Cross
As I Survey the Wondrous Cross

I also have taken an appreciation to the works of Marty Haugen, David Haas, Paul Tate, and Ricky Manalo since my recent involvement in a contemporary Catholic choir.

Yes. It’s both patriotic and suitable for Church, and it can be used in such places (obviously) as England, or Newfoundland, or any other province in Canada, or Australia, etc…
I like And did those feet as well, albeit I find it a bit too Anglo-centric (I can’t blame Blake here though). But then again, No más amor que el Tuyo is Filipino-centric. 😃

No más amor que el Tuyo,
¡Oh Corazón Divino!
El pueblo Filipino
Te da su corazón.
En templos y en hogares
Te invoque nuestra lengua;
Tú reinarás sin mengua
De Aparri hasta Joló.

I might also add here the song for the 33rd International Eucharistic Congress (Manila, 1937): Himno Official del XXXIII Congreso Eucarístico International, aka Himno Eucarístico Filipino or Gloria a Jesús:

Gloria a Jesús que se encierra
en la Hostia de bendición.
¡Postraos cielos y tierra
en rendida adoración!
¡Venid, pueblos del Oriente,
naciones todas, venid.
Y en abrazo de fe ardiente
a Dios Hostia bendecid!

Jerusalem
I Vow to Thee my Country (or O God, Beyond all Praising)
All Creatures of our God and King
Immaculate Mary (Lourdes Hymn)
Lord for tomorrow and Today
How Great thou Art (Believe it or not!)
Attende Domine
Onward Christian Soldiers
Guardian Angel, from Heaven so Bright
Hail Holy Queen, Enthroned Above
Hail Mary, Ever Blessed
The Walsingham Hymn
Hail Queen of Heaven, the Ocean Star
Sweet Saviour Bless Us, E’er we Go
Praise to the Holiest
Jesus Christ, is Ris’n today!
Cor Jesu Trinitatis
The Breastplate of St Patrick (I Bind unto myself Today)
Lord of All Hopefulness (Be thou my Vision)
Glorious Virgin, Thee we Sing
Full in the Panting Heart of Rome
My song is Love Unknown
O Sacred Heart, that on the Cross
O Blest for e’er the Mother
Pange Lingua
O Salutaris Hostia
Holy Joseph, Dearest Father
All Praise to St Patrick
Hail Patron of Erin

And these are just a few…
Hi there,

I can’t wait to check them out… Especially “Holy Joseph, Dearest Father” . I have never heard a hymn to Saint Joseph.

Thanks a ton for the list.

God bless,
Joe

Sure, now that I’ve got some time to reformat the file and plug it in. Names in small caps are tune names (like “New Britain”) as opposed to names of hymns (like “Amazing Grace”).

Edit: Okay, cancel that; the small caps didn’t show up.

Hi Dave,

Wao… that is a long list. I will have to spend days to find the best version of them. I searched some of the hymns mentioned in other posts (maily in youtube) and I can’t find a version that I like and some of them are not there in youtube at all.

I am searching for some online resource where we can get all these in traditional catholic style… do you know any sites ?

By the way…I am gonna do some look up about euphonium in wiki… I am just amazed… I am trying to learn to play Piano since a 7 months and I am not getting anywhere… you must be truly blessed !

Cheers
Joe

I don’t play it as often as I should, but usually once or twice a week. I’ve owned it since 1960, but the only work I’ve had done on it was to have the valves refinished. The intonation is great, except for the 2-3 valve combination for some reason. It needs a complete overhaul, de-denting, and re-lacquering, but that’s not going to happen any time soon. I’d love it if someone would drop a Besson Sovereign in my lap 😃

Back on topic: My singing voice is shot, but I live in a very musical part of the country where my family is known as a very musical family, and where there are plenty of occasions where solo and ensemble music is the main purpose of the meeting. So I have taken advantage of the existence of pre-recorded accompaniments of Southern Gospel (i.e., Gaither Homecoming-type) songs, only instead of singing, I play my horn. My repertoire is still rather small, but the favorites seem to be “Keep on the Firing Line,” “We’ll Understand It All By And By,” and “My Jesus, I Love Thee.”

Cheers
