How many Catholics can read music or chant notation so that they learn the hymns on their own.

How many Catholics have access to a monastery or a friar-run parish where they can pray the Office with the friars?

So those who do pray the Divine Office but don’t read music, what do they do when they get to the hymns? Just read them?

How many sing hymns daily in the divine office? Well there are about 8000 Benedictines around the world. Some would sing in Latin (I’m guessing a few hundred), some in vernacular plainchant and some in more modern settings.

Among the laity… Well we have about 100 oblates at our abbey. Not all sing the office but all pray at least part of it. I pray a full office and Chang it in Latin. There is a handful of us who do.
 
I think I understand the disconnect.

There may be a lot more hymns sung in the OF.
