Traditional Latin Mass readings?

I recently purchased the Barionus Press 1962 Roman Missal which I am slowly learning how to use. This next weekend I was going to a TLM while visiting in Atlanta Ga. I noticed that at this particular church they have a TLM twice a day, every day of the week. One is at 6:30 am and the other at 9am. I plan to attend on Friday and Saturday while I am there for the Bama-Clemson football game.

My question was this, I know that this particular Sunday is the 16th Sunday after Pentacost but what gospel readings, collects, prayers, etc will they be doing on this Friday and Saturday while I am there. I cannot find any daily readings in this missale as opposed to the new missals for the post Vatican II Mass. Where can I find information on this or where should I place my ribbons in my missal in order to follow along?? Any help or website reference will be appreciated.

Also for a TLM, are they real strict with the dress code. I am not taking my Sunday best clothing because I am going to a football game but I will not be wearing a football jersey either. Probrably a short sleeve polo shirt and long pants and dress shoes. I am not taking a suit and tie. I am new to the church and am not sure how to dress for a TLM. The one I have been to locally some people dressed up and others dressed casually. I have only been in the church for about 2 years.

The first thing I would suggest is to check their online bulletin. They show the particular Feast day celebrated on every day during that week. Unfortunately, it appears to be a couple of weeks out of date. So, I would check it before you leave to see if it is updated.

As an alternative, to see what Feast is celebrated you can check here. The Feast days in the Traditional calendar are often different than the Feast days in the Modern calendar.

It appears that Friday August 29th is the Feast of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. And Saturday August 30th is the Feast of St. Rose of Lima.

The reason it is important to know this is that the Feast day will typically determine the Readings in the TLM. Unlike the Ordinary Form the Extraordinary Form does not have set weekday Readings. The Readings for the Feast day are (almost) always used.

I don’t have the Baronius Missal to be able to give you exact page numbers. But, you should be able to find the Feast days in the Missal.

Also, it may be possible for the priest to offer a Votive Mass instead depending on the rank of the Feast. I can’t remember the exact rules for this off the top of my head. That is why I suggest checking the parish bulletin. It should let you know what is being celebrated.

It is my experience that daily Mass tends to be a little bit more informal no matter what the Rite or Form of Mass. It is just generally understood that a lot of people are coming from or going to work and can’t necessarily be in their Sunday best. What you plan on wearing is pretty much what I wear during the summer to the TLM.

One last thing:
If you have never been to a TLM before be aware that for a daily Mass it will most likely be a Low Mass. High Masses are more common on Sundays than weekdays.

A Low Mass will be relatively quiet and much less solemn that a High Mass. Some people prefer it. But, I typically recommend to people that their first TLM experience be a High Mass. If you attend and don’t care for the Low Mass I would just ask that at some point in the future you give the TLM another chance and try a High Mass.

Polo shirt and khakis is fine for a daily mass. The Father there is my former pastor and he is the one who brought me into the Church. He will not mind you in that sort of dress. Go with faith and confidence.
 
The 1962 missal does NOT have ferial readings for every day of the week outside Lent.

For example, you won’t see “Friday after the 16th Sunday after Pentecost” or anything like that.

This Friday, 29 August, is the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, which I believe has its own propers found in the Proper of the Saints (arranged according to the calendar) for that day.
 
Basil, you are correct but I allow me to clarify what you said a little for the 62 Mass newbie…

The Missal doesn’t contain propers for each day because that was an innovation to the new mass. It doesn’t mean if you go to Mass on a feria that you won’t hear readings, but keep in mind it actually gives freedom to the priest to celebrate votive masses or to re-say the mass for the previous Sunday.

Many priests in my experience use the ferial days to say the Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart as a reparation, or Mass for Christian Unity, things like that. Don’t be discouraged by the system. Yes, its different but once you get used to it I think you’ll find it is much easier than trying to guess which one out of 15 readings a priest will use for a feast day or memorial in the Ordinary form.
 
is there any online sites that display Latin Mass reading like blog form or such?
