Traditional name for the Western Church

Greetings! I have joined this forum to learn more about the Western part of the Catholic Church since I learned a lot about the East of the Catholic Church such as the Maronites, Ukranians etc. My question today is, what is the traditional and original name of the western Church. Today I was told that Pope Paul VI changed the western Church name to the " Latin Church " during Vatican II. I was also told the term Roman Catholic was invented my english Protestants. So what is the original name of the west? Is it the Roman Rite ( not the liturgy ), Latin Rite, Western Church, Roman Church, Latin Church, etc. Please help me understand this. Latin Church and Patriarchate of the West are used too by some.
 
In the Vatican 1 Council this is how it is defined in several places:

There was no official name changed at Vatican II by Paul VI–mostly because there was no real official name. Historically, the non-Greek, non-Eastern part of the Church was called many of the things you list: Latin Rite, Roman Rite, Latin Church, Roman Church, etc.
