As another aside the manutiguriam, the white cloth that is tied around the priests hands after annointing with oils, is used to also cleanse his hands after the ceremony. This linen cloth is then given the new Priest’s mother after Mass.
When the priests mother dies she is buried with her Son’s manutiguriam. This is a visible sign to all who come to her funeral that she is the mother of a priest.
The new rite of ordination eliminated the manutiguriam. I personally think there has been a great loss in the Church with all of the reforms of the sacraments.
