This morning I was looking for something to pray with because I was kind of tired from a big day yesterday and fuzzy-headed. :o I needed something reflective yet structured to wrap my mind around. So I found this on my bookshelf - the St. Pius X Daily Missal (School Edition) published in 1956. I found it at the Goodwill store some time ago. Anyway I opened to the back section under “Approved Litanies” and found a litany based on Psalm 69 that was just perfect to pray right then and there.

That got me thinking that it would be neat to share “vintage” Catholic prayers and books and websites that have traditional materials available. Also artwork - anything you’ve stumbled upon that has inspired you. All the “oldies but goodies” of our beautiful Faith! 🙂
 
Meditate on the word Holy or Sanctus which is Holy in Latin. It normally gives me something to do.
 
If I’m not mistaken, the Anima Christi dates back to the 14th century, and it is one that speaks so deeply to my heart:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
Oh good Jesus, hear me!
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
Forever and ever, Amen.
 
That’s one I need to memorize - that and the Divine Praises! 👍 :gopray:
 
How about old prayerbooks? 🙂 Found anything good on Ebay lately?
