Traditional? What would you call this?

I’m not suprised. It seems like anything flies in the Novus Ordo Church. (Except of course for consecrating bishops who will preserve the Apostolic Catholic faith.) As long as it doesn’t involve the heresy (gasp!) of rejecting the modernist Second Vatican Council, it’s tolerated.
Is this another plug for SSPX?

thanks, Richie

Oh! I didn’t know that, thank you!
It seems that you are not the only one.

From Paschale Solemnitatis, Circular Letter Concerning the Preparation and Celebration of the Easter Feasts, CDW, January 16, 1988
  1. The Blessed Sacrament should be reserved in a closed tabernacle or pyx. Under no circumstances may it be exposed in a monstrance.
The place where the tabernacle or pyx is situated must not be made to resemble a tomb, and the expression tomb is to be avoided: for the chapel of repose is not prepared so as to represent the Lord’s burial but for the custody of the eucharistic bread that will be distributed in communion on Good Friday.
56. After the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, the faithful should be encouraged to spend a suitable period of time during the night in the church in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament that has been solemnly reserved. Where appropriate, this prolonged eucharistic adoration may be accompanied by the reading of some part of the gospel of Saint John (ch. 13-17).

Hello,
I am a fairly recent revert and have been having a hard time with my priest. I don’t know if it is me being too judgemental or…tell me what you think:

examples:

Last night was Holy Thursday. During the Homily he said ā€œyes, Jesus’ body is present in the Eucharist but He is also present in each one of us and we should focus on that and try to be of service to each otherā€¦ā€ basically glossing over the Real Presence. There was a scheduled Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8pm-10pm immediately following the Mass and several parishoners (myself and my son included) waited 15 minutes for it to begin when we were told he (the priest) had decided ā€œnot to do itā€- no other explanation given.

Today, during the homily for Good Friday, he started to discuss suffering. He went on to talk about how some people believe erroneously in something he calls ā€œApcalypticismā€ which is that the devil is on earth and is is responsible for suffering -but he says thatis all not true-" it is only due to the human condition" and that we should just " accept it and try to live a happy life". In fact he said, [and I quote! ]ā€œGo out to the movies! Go see a Broadway show! Have a beer or two! or a shot of whisky! or vodka! This is the only life we have! This moment! So go live it and be happy!ā€

Hmmm…doesn’t seem an appropriate homily for Good Friday…but what do I know 🤷

(BTW: This is also the same priest who in my crisis over NFP counseled me to use ABC and to ā€œnot worry about itā€)

Am I being scrupulous?? Is obedience and patience the answer?
thank you for your thoughts.
Record all of this in a letter and write to your bishop. These are serious errors.

Why assume that Refugium is doing nothing? Speaking out to the bishops is obviously not going to be effective if they are modernist bishops, as most are. Supporting traditional priests and orders is more effective, in my opinion. When your voices are not being heard, speak with your feet and with your pocketbook. That is the only thing which seems to get the attention of the apostates.
You are right. I was assuming Refugium was doing nothing. I apologize.😦

I agree on at least trying to change things by speaking out appropriately. ā€œLight a candle, don’t curse the darkness.ā€
