Freshman88, see if you can’t get involved with or start a local Una Voce Chapter. I met some fantastic Traditional Catholic students and professors at a recent local meeting. There’s a Traditional Latin Mass Society based out of Vancouver that is connected to Una Voce. I don’t know where you are, but check it out here:

I think starting one up, would get plenty of Traditional Catholics together. We have theological talks, etc. at our meetings, and of course a TLM.
Thanks for these links. I feel right at home in this thread, and share many of the thoughts expressed.

I was never a fan of the “youth mass” either, at least not the ones I’ve been too. Charismatic Christianity, with the folk-rock ‘praise and worship music’, doesn’t reach me. On the other hand I haven’t quite made the transition to the TLM (or the Extraordinary Rite as it’s now called 🙂 ). I like understanding the language of the liturgy (not to say there isn’t an ancient mystique to Latin), but I always leave a Novus Ordo Mass a little disappointed somehow. I feel like it could be so much more. My favourite Mass, however, was an All Saints Mass in a German Cathedral, so the NO *can *be celebrated with all the pomp and glory it deserves, and it is *much *better that way.

After a few months of attending the Tridentine Mass, you will be able to understand what is being said without any problems. The use of a Missal will be a great help to you when you first begin.

There are a lot of people who say that “full participation” is their reason for attending the Pauline Mass. However, I would like to point out that you are able to fully participate in the Tridentine Mass, although in a different way. In the Tridentine Mass, you participate in a much more prayerful way as you contemplate on the Sacrifice that is taking place at the Altar. It truly brings you closer to God in a much more personal way. You are able to adore the Lord without any undue distractions that will take your mind away from what is happening.

I recommend that you purchase this small book that explains the Tridentine Mass perfectly:

baroniuspress.com/book.php?wid=56&bid=16

It is written in a very clear way and should only take you a day or so to read. I found it to be invaluable when I first started attending the Tridentine Mass. It will give you the knowledge to be able to follow along perfectly and know exactly what is happening.

I also would be very interested in a group like this. I am 24 and love the Latin Mass. I have gone a few times so far, and I am giving serious consideration to switching parishes and going to the Latin Mass weekly. It is unbelieveably beautiful.

Also, the Newman Center at my college is also horrendous. I wrote to my bishop about them, and he said that because of the “nature and depth” of my concerns, he would be talking to the priest in charge about them.
