Wonderful! Who are these monks? My first question is always who ordained them? I worry about the line of succession (for lack of better words) - concerned about anyone radical performing ordinations…(PLEASE - I mean no disrespect - I need to know more!) How has the Vatican viewed this monastery? Is this the SAME monastery that offers Gregorian Masses? There were only two monasteries (to my knowledge) - one in Oklahoma and one in France who did say them. Your link makes me think this might be the same one.
Isn’t it wonderful - in this age of sin - that we see a sudden opening of the clouds - a drop of rain - a rainbow - sunhine ? Does the Pope know these things? I’m assuming he does. This news was beautiful…Thank you.

(1) this order is a daughter of Le Barroux, which was originally SSPX but ‘reconciled’
(2) this is indeed their only monastery
(3) they were established with full approval by the local diocese (Agen)
(4) they do indeed offer the Traditional Rite (or at least the 65 Missal, which is easier for monks), but there are many monasteries in France that also do, including Le Barroux itself

In an age when non-traditionalist seminaries are struggling to stay open, it is great to see the Traditionalist Orders thriving. The future is bright for the Traditionalist element within the Church. Without exageration, I predict that the Roman rite will become almost exclusively traditional if this trend continues.
It is regularly denied, but attendance of EF Masses is growing. The number of Traditionalist priests is increasing. New Traditionalist seminaries are being founded. The SSPX are close to being canonically approved.
On the other side, more liberal priests are retiring and their seminaries are empty. Liturgical abuse is being halted and female priests will never be sanctioned. Pope Benedict is constantly reiterating and defending traditional Catholic doctrine regarding birth control, abortion, female ordination, and homosexuality. The future is looking gloomy for the liberal wing.
They had their time, and their chance to reform the Church according to their own beliefs. They failed. Now is the time for the Reform of the Reform. And this is already producing fruit.

You’d think there would be enough vacant monasteries that they wouldn’t have to build a new one.
I guess there’s an issue transfering property between orders.

Good point ! So many churches, rectories - and as you mention monasteries closing.
I’ll bet they could get these buildings for a song. :harp:
I wonder how the sale of these properties work, since in some cases the ground / bldgs. were blessed originally - and, if sold, perhaps desecrated even if unintentionally, by secular owners versus religious organizations.
