Hi all

I am wanting to make a retreat soon, but I want the Traditional experience… (I go to Mass in the Old Rite regularly.) I am wondering if there are any monastic houses in the UK that follow the EF in its entirety, or at least have the Mass said in both forms of the Roman Rite? I know the FSSP offers weekends and such like (at Douai?) but I kind of wanted to get to a monastery…

Any ideas?

Hi levavi
I can highly recoomend Douai Abbey run by Benedicitne monks. They have a very busy schedule of retreats all year round. The Benedictine monks run all the parish churches around the area near where i live.It can be expensive though

Have you asked your parish priest? Our parish bulletin has details several times a year about retreats and one day retreats or days of reflection. Our parish priest goea on several retreats a year.Last year he went on an Opus dei retreat. There are many throughout the country. The last time i went to one was in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire with my grandmother and father. It was wonderful.I had been thinking myself of attending one at Douai Abbey .

What about the monks on Papa Stronsay? Not sure if they do retreats or not but it should be worth a try.
