It’s been a long time since I read the book straight through, so I had a good chuckle remembering the rule about no kissing before engagement, and then only a kiss like you’d give your mother (or however that went). 🍿

Now concerning “forgetting”, there are verses like Hebrews 8:12 “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” I guess the question is do we take that literally or poetically?
