I have seen this link on more than one traditionalist site. Is this how traditionalists feel, for the most part?

No, this is not, in my experience, the feel of most traditionalists. While many do feel that NFP is overused, and most Catholics will agree that NFP can be used in a contraceptive mentality which could render it sinful, they also do believe, as the Church teaches, that there are times when abstaining from intercourse can be necessary, and to monitor and schedule these times is not sinful.

Yes, I think to talk to a priest or other spiritual adviser would always be good advice. With something so personal and with so many nuances, it can be very hard to pin down whether one’s own reasons for using NFP are appropriate, or legitimate, or might have some negative consequences.

The Church has left the circumstances under which NFP may be used to avoid pregnancy very vague, and probably intentionally so. It is virtually impossible to include every conceivable scenario which could take place in every marriage.

Keep in mind that “traditionalist” covers the spectrum from sede-vacantists to people who prefer Latin as a liturgical language (and then there are Eastern traditionalists, too).

I think that it’s only smart for a woman to know what’s normal about her body, and especially her reproductive system. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that women who practice NFP will catch reproductive abnormalities that could become malignant sooner than those who don’t.;
