Do the Traditions of Christ’s church have any relevance or meaning to Protestants or are they seen as meaningless bits of historical trivia?

Most of the mainline groups believe they are very relevant. Others, who believe incorrectly they are tradition free, would not knowingly think they are important.

Tradition is very important to Lutherans, so long as they do not conflict with scripture, or cause us to sin.

Cannot all tradition of the RCC be reconciled to the Bible?

One should always distinguish between human tradition and Holy Tradition of the Church. The first occur to facilitate human activities and may vary from culture to culture while the second is defined as the Apostolic Traditions handed down orally from the Apostles down to the Early Fathers and Popes and Church members as reflected from Scriptures.

I was refering to Holy Tradition, I should have been more clear, thank you

Jon,

I did not cite any specific Tradition of Christ’s church because I wished to leave it open to anyone answering to state those with which they agree. This is an attempt by me to learn. I am often puzzled by how people of today (not anyone in particular) react to or dismiss those Holy Traditions.

I would appreciate your thoughts or those of anyone else.

God bless

So you want to know which ones? That was not in the OP and takes this whole thing is a different direction. The same old boring direction IMO. Protestants will post them. Catholics will say no no.
But why not. I have no problem with any of the traditions. I just do not believe some of them like the Assumption.
I think that if it actually happened it would have filled volumes of books for hundreds of years. But it gets nada attention for 300 years. Then you also have competing traditions about it. So you can believe it but that is not convincing to me.

well then how come there are not more volumes on the ascention of Jesus or lets say Enoch of the old testement. and another point is there are so many relics from the early saints that were kept and revered, most churches have relics in thier altar stones, yet I know of not one that has a relic of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As an important part of the early Church as the BVM was don’t you think there would be some relics around some place? There are none because when she died she was assumed into heaven body&soul. since she was the God bearer, I wonder if God would let his Ark suffer corruption of decay? speaking of Arks funny how the Ark of the covenent was probably taken to heaven also so it wouldn’t suffer corruption.

Which Traditions do you find have relevance to Christian faith?

I do belief that Mary was assumed. This is a matter of faith for me. I trust that God is capable of doing so. My humble and simple reason? If He can create He can conduct an assumption.

I would be interested to know why you are not convinced about the Assumption of Mary. I agree with your assessment that many posts retread the same ideas and generally with no result. If you wish you can PM the information to me.

The Ante-Nicene Fathers wrote extensively on everything. The Bible records the ascension. His resurrection was written about at length.

No details are known.
No one knows what happened to her. I do not think most of the relics were legit anyway. I think they had the decency to let people be buried hopefully.
Let us remember what the earliest details do say
But if some think us mistaken, let them search the Scriptures. They will not find Mary’s death; they will not find whether she died or did not die; they will not find whether she was buried or was not buried … Scripture is absolutely silent [on the end of Mary] … For my own part, I do not dare to speak, but I keep my own thoughts and I practice silence … The fact is, Scripture has outstripped the human mind and left [this matter] uncertain … Did she die, we do not know … Either the holy Virgin died and was buried … Or she was killed … Or she remained alive, since nothing is impossible with God and He can do whatever He desires; for her end no-one knows.’ (Epiphanius, Panarion, Haer. 78.10-11, 23.

We do not refer to her as the Ark. I do not think there would be relics because the earliest recorded interest in bones was the Martyrdom of Polycarp…and they buried his.

I too believe God is capable of such. I just think it would be an incredible event and everyone would have written about it. I think they would have the story straight as well.

What traditions…thats a good question!👍
Our liturgy.
The writings of Christian theologians.
Religious images and symbols.
The lives of Christian martyrs.
Goodness…I will have to think some more.

you have to trust the RCC since she was there from the start and holds the history. I could tell you about what I believe about the Civil War but I was not there I am only giving you my opinion whereas if U.S.Grant said something you would believe it because he was there. History!

Brian: I think you are wrong , SS Peter Paul bones are relics in Rome.

That is my point exactly. If no one wrote about the Civil War until
2210, I would not expect them to believe it either.

how about oral traditions maybe because of persecutions nobody wrote but passed it on oraly.most people could not read and write or had money for paper it was very expensive.so they had to tell the story and pass it along.

The Ante-Nicene Fathers is ten volumes. Ten HUGE volumes written before 325 AD. The early Christians wrote ALL the time.
Then all the writings for the next 100 or 200 years as well.
searchgodsword.org/his/ad/ecf/ant/

People wrote all the time. When they did start writing, the accounts conflict on all of the details. Even today, Orthodox and Catholic disagree on if she even died.
Like I said, I understand if you have to believe it. I understand if you believe it even if you do not have to.
It is a “have-to” believe and as such it is one reason I cannot be one of you guys.
