I voted for “orthodox,” but that can be confused with Eastern Rites.

I prefer the designation “authentic,” but without inferring its opposite, which would be “heretical.” So I guess I can’t use that one any more.

We do need a word to describe this category.

I came to an EWTN site staing this…
“Participation in the life of the Church should lead any Catholic (Charismatic, traditional, or ordinary) into a deeper relationship with the Eucharist, the Blessed Mother and the Pope.”

So apparently, it is not just me that recognizes that there are differences in Catholics. EWTN has no problem with catagories either.
But EWTN is not defining what the labels mean - they are simply making a point and saying that it applies to all Catholics, regardless of which arbitrary label one might choose to apply to one’s self.

It should be more than evident to you by now that your quest is a futile one. I will say it again - don’t hide behind a label, we all have unique opinions and it is unfair to force people into a “category”. On some issues I’m sure we agree, and therefore I’d be grouped into your “category”. Whether I want it or not, and even if there are many other issues where we thoroughly disagree.

Let your words speak for themselves. Stop playing the label/category game.

I agree with you about EWTN and from now on when I use the word “traditional” to describe myself and get slammed here, I will refer back to this EWTN article for verification.
It saves my typing fingers!

Since Vatican II I think the Church is on a evolutionary path and has a identity crisis especially in the U.S., so you are not alone. The only Identity that has real roots is grounded in tradition, thus the debate between Change and Tradition. To find your identity there is the “t”,“T”,“m”(modern)" or somewhere in between, most are finding themselves at either end that really want a identity.Just my thoughts on the subject.
