😦

It’s God’s will. There’s nothing we could have done to prevent it. Maybe God planned it so that the children would leave this cruel world while in their innocent state… Quite guaranteeing their entrance to the Kingdom… And so that they may no longer feel the horrors of this world…

Still, I’ll pray that the Lord may keep their young souls in His kingdom and may He have mercy on the gunmen’s souls.
Cruel world? Horrors of this World? I think perhaps you consider moving to an area where people are a little nicer.

😦 It is so sad what has happend.I plan to try to go to church at lunch time and pray for them and the victims of the other recent school shootins. This getting rid of the boys and shooting the girls

Father prayed for them at mass today-very touching and very appropriate

There’s that good old fashioned moral relativism that we’ve grown so accustomed today. There is no right and wrong, there is no good and evil, only actions, either sane, or insane, the insane ones are excused, it just so happens that the evil actions are commited by insane people, not evil people…

Hopefully the shooter is sharing in eternal Heaven since he was crazy at the time…
One would think that someone who does such a thing is totally insane. But surely this guy must have known or had some inkling of how much suffering and grief he would be inflicting on the kids and parents.

He planned this, tied the kids up, and purposely shot them. This was no accident, and he did not suddenly go into a drunken rage. No one knows if he is toast, but somehow I don’t think he went straight to Heaven.

It sounds like he was normally a decent fellow otherwise, maybe that has much more weight than his final evil deeds. May God have mercy on all the souls involved, and especially comfort the parents, family and friends who have to live with lost loved ones.

Some people have such disregard for human life, it sickens me. I know that anyone who would do this is not in their right state of mind, but what he did is inexcusable. Those children did nothing to deserve this.

The one comforting thing about this is that he clearly had to answer to God for what he did, and I know God gives the right judgement and makes the right decisions.

According to CNN, the shooter claimed to have molested two young relatives twenty years earlier and had been having dreams of molesting again for the last two years… the police say that there is no evidence that he molested these young Amish girls.

That is, I know, a small relief to the families, but I thank God that at least he did not violate the purity of their innocence.

Those girls may never have heard of St. Maria Goretti, but I have no doubt she was watching over them at the time of their deaths.

It is horrible what happened… The Amish are amongst the most peaceful out there and of no immediate danger to anyone! I heard on a report about the note he left his wife stating that he had been haunted by the above mentioned molestations he committed (horribly evil) and the death of his stillborn daughter in 1997. This man was in a world of hurt. It is tragic and I wish it had never happened. But lets pray that there is some good that comes from this. Pray that God will use this situation to bring those who have fallen away from Him closer and to soften the hearts of those who have turned their backs on Him.

This totally touched my heart, what an amazing people of faith this Amish community is.
Roberts, from the nearby town of Bart, was not Amish and did not appear to have anything against the Amish, Miller said. He said Roberts was bent on killing girls and apparently figured he could succeed at the serene schoolhouse.
Dwight Lefever, a Roberts family spokesman, spoke at a community prayer service Tuesday evening and said he was at the home of Roberts’ father when an Amish neighbor came to **comfort **the family. ā€œHe stood there for an hour, and he held that man in his arms, and he said, ā€˜We will forgive you,ā€™ā€ Lefever said. ā€œHe extended the hope of forgiveness that we all need these days.ā€
Stoltzfus said the victims’ families will be sustained by their faith. ā€œWe think it was God’s plan and we’re going to have to pick up the pieces and keep going,ā€ he said. ā€œA funeral to us is a much more important thing than the day of birth because we believe in the hereafter. The children are better off than their survivors.ā€

Oh and what the surviving children must be going through!! Does anyone know if the other children were forced to watch it all happen? What must be going through their innocent little minds?!?!

What I find amazing is that in all of the interviews they’ve done after this, the Amish community has talked about forgiveness. It’s so rare to see people genuinely able to forgive after such a horrible event, I hope I can be more like them in that way.

From what I saw on the news last night, the boys and adult women (some with infants in arms) were allowed to leave, and only 11 girls, ages 13 and under, were held, lined up against the blackboard with their feet bound and shot, execution style.

It’s a miracle any of them survived.

The irony is that I heard that the murderer’s wife was in church (Presbyterian, I think it was) at a mothers’ prayer meeting at the time of the shootings!

Yes, I do think it is astounding that the Amish have done nothing but speak about forgiveness, but that is the way they live their lives. Anger and vengefulness is contrary to the peacefulness that permeates their lives and culture. They try to live like Jesus who also forgave those who murdered him.

In all honesty, I don’t know if I could be as forgiving, but I pray that if God ever calls me to be, I will do it as peacefully as these people do.
