I have an interest in railways and trains, watch videos, study rail networks, etc. Is this idol worship?
Do you worship trains?I have an interest in railways and trains, watch videos, study rail networks, etc. Is this idol worship?

Not sure about that train in the vid … which is actually the same model as the “Hogwarts Express”Billowing clouds of smoke. Awesome!
How fast do you think that one in at the beginning of the first video is going?
Makes me want to go do burnouts in the SVT.

Do you wear an anorak?Hi,
I like Ireland and UK mainly. I Know the London Underground pretty well at this stage…
No interest in North American yet.
I suppose it’s a matter of never letting it get before God.
Seeking professional help, that sounds a bit harsh. I can’t really go into my GP and tell him I’m interested in trains man, he’ll just think I’m not well.
Your GP is probably not equipped to deal with whatever problems you are having. Your previous posts indicate problems with obsession and great anxiety. Please seek some mental health care and spiritual care as well. Find a good confessor and spiritual director whom you can trust, and listen to their advice.Seeking professional help, that sounds a bit harsh. Yep. He would indeed. He would probably refer you to a mental health specialist who can help with issues of OCD or anxiety. That was probably the poster’s point. There’s no legitimate reason to think that an interest in trains is idolotry. Even if you spent your rent money on little trees for your model trains display, or your wife left you three months ago and you still haven’t noticed because you spend every moment on the internet looking at trains, it still probably wouldn’t rise to the point of actual idolatry. It would probably be sinful at that point and a huge misuse of time and resources, though.Seeking professional help, that sounds a bit harsh. andI’m obsessed with trains now, and it’s gone on for months. It was planes only a wile back. It has to be an unhealthy habit, I’m always watching videos and reading about them, playing simulators…
I feel like it’s a form of being bound, and need to be set free from this distracting, useless ‘hobby’. It’s doing my life and soul no good, or anyone else’s. Am I being too harsh?
PS. I’ve always been like this. Going through cycles of obsessions with very worldly things.
Either we were trolled (likely; this poster has not come back) or this is someone who needs professional help for his mental issues.I’m very skeptical about getting diagnosed by the men in white coats, then there’s the drugs and all.
Well whaddya know, I love British (and Canadian) trains too. Well, all trains really, but especially British and Canadian. My motto is “planes, trains and automobiles”. I have a pilot’s license, a HO scale model railway in permanent early stages of construction in the basement, and I love offbeat small European cars (I drive a Golf diesel which in Europe isn’t an oddity but it is in N. America). No it’s not.
