Is the Holy Mass tommorrow (sunday) be celebrated as feast of transfiguration? I know that it fall on saturday but can it be celebrated on sunday?

Is it a holy day of obligaion?

Tomorrow (Saturday, August 6th) is the Feast of the Transfiguration. It is not a Holy Day of Obligation. If it falls on a Sunday it will still be observed; this year it falls on a Saturday not on a Sunday.

Here in Uk we celebrated it today, Saturday. But I believe that the United States Bishops Conference usually do these things on the Sundays. And no, it is not a HDO but it is a very important Memorae and Feast.

The next HDO will be The Assumption of the BVM, August 15th but in England & Wales this year we will celebrate it on Sunday 14th.

Sorry, just to make my post clearer. Of course every Sunday is a Holy Day of Obligation!

The Transfiguration is a feast and not a solemnity. It would never be transferred to Sunday.

It is never transfered to Sunday, but it will be observed if it falls on a Sunday, and it last fell on a Sunday in 2000. The Feasts of: The Presentation of the Lord, The Transfiguration, and the Triumph of the Holy Cross will all be observed if they fall on a Sunday.

The Bishops have not transfered it to a Sunday, that is only done for Holy Days of Obligation. Here in the states, Holy Days that have been transfered are: The Epiphany of the Lord and Corpus Christi. The Ascension of the Lord has been transfered to Sunday in the Western States of the U.S., but not in the Eastern States.

Durring Ordinary Time, all Solemnities that fall on a Sunday will still be observed. Durring Advent and Lent, a Solemnity will be moved to the Saturday before its date, or the Monday after its date if it falls on a Sunday. If the Solemnity falls durring Holy Week or Easter Week, it will be observed on the first Monday after Easter Week. (This year the Annunciation of the Lord was observed on April 4th, because it fell on Good Friday.)

I also forgot that the Feast of the Dedication of St. John Lateran will also still be observed if it falls on a Sunday.
