Transfiguration - Why was Peter asked to keep it secret?

Hi All,

In today’s Gospel about the transfiguration, Why were Peter, James and John told not to say anything about this…until Jesus rose from the dead?

Just scratching my head as to why?

In an interpretation that I favor, the Transfiguration is proof of Christ’s divinity. The purpose of the event though was not to demonstrate to the world His divinity – that event is His Resurrection – but to fortify the faith of the three immediately before His passion began.

Because if they knew who He really is, they never would have killed Him, for it was necessary that He must first suffer and die, and rise again that scripture be fulfilled.

Christ kept much of His early revelation relatively secret because He knew that He would be killed and needed to delay that until His earthly mission was complete.
