If one decides to leave seminary before priestly ordination, but after ordination to the transitional diaconate, will laicization usually be granted? (Since marriage is therefor precluded with laicization)
Since one is in major orders at that point, what is the usual process for leaving?

We had that exact situation where a transitional deacon declined ordination because he thought he was called to married life. The Bishop assigned him to a parish for 6 months for further discernment. Towards the end of the six months, he was given a deadline to respond in writing with his intentions. When he did not respond, the bishop notified him that, at the end of the six months, he would no longer have faculties in the diocese and would not be eligible for a monthly stipend, car allowance or health insurance. In short, he was still a deacon and bound by the promises he made when he was ordained. If he wanted to pursue a relationship, he would have to apply for laicization, which in the case of a deacon, is very easy to get.

If he does not request dispensation from the clerical duties in any time he can turn back to the church, and proceed to the presbyterate. After the dispensation such step is much more complicated.
