Die Schöpfung/**Mit Würd und Hoheit Angetan **on the cd by The Priests. Does anyone have a translation/lyrics for this? From J. Haydn’s The Creation.

Interesting that they both missed one word.

Pity none of our German speakers chimed in, these mechanical translations often leave a lot of nuance behind…
 
Are you sure that it is
Mit Würd und Hoheit Angetan

And not Mit Wurd und Hoheit Angetan?

Mit wurd und Hoheit Angetan translates as : With sovereignty and appreciation or worth. Haydn seems to saying that man had worth in the beginning because he was created by God.

The lines leading up to that are:
Und Gott sprach: Es bringe die Erde hervor lebende Geschopfe
And God said : Let the earth bring forth
*Gleich offnet sich der Erde Schoss *
Straight opening her fertile womb
*Nun scheint in vollem Glanze der Himmel *
Now shines the brightest glory

And God created Man
Mit Wurd und Hoheit angetan
In sovereign worth
