Yeah, but for us, this is a translation from the word I can’t type above to the original greek.

Slavonic Christianity never used that greek, but now, here it is instead of the slavonic equivalent. (it is my understanding that it has never been used for any other purpose, having been coined by SS C&M)

Theotokos is translated 2 ways in Latin: Deipara (strict translation) and Mater Dei.

But it’s the only title we have in the Latin tradition. I don’t know about Latin, but “God-bearer” just sounds a bit odd in English.

Theotokos and Bogodoritsa probably sounded a bit odd in Greek and Slavonic when the terms were first coined.

I believe ACROD (American Capartho-Rusyn Orthodox Diocese) translates the term into English as God-bearer.
