The words “Hocus Pocus” are actually a takeoff from the Latin words of consecration so I can understand the public’s fascination of the Mass as some magical event.
And the Hokie Pokie song and dance was also devised as mocking the Mass (this is more apparent with the increased gestures of the priest and his need to turn to the faithful in the Extraordinary form celebrated ad orientam).

This is the second time I have heard this.
What is the source for this allegation?
Frankly I don’t see it. Never have.

Peace
James

Magic is illusory, fun to watch and you can see the result of the illusion.

Transubstantiation isn’t illusory, not fun to watch and you can’t see any discernible difference in the host.

How’s that for a difference?

If you could physically see the Transubstantiation, then that wouldn’t be faith any more, right? But that doesn’t mean they will or won’t stop looking for any possible physical sign of the Transubstantiation.

If that were the case, I’m confident that the vast majority of the human population would be Catholics.

About halfway down the page (after “Catholicism: Can’t beat the real thing”.) From Agnuswholesale.com.

I just noticed that you have to order 12 or more at the wholesale site. I think cafepress also has this, or try the retail site at www.agnusgiftshop.com.

One last edit…in the regular gift shop (the second link) there are all sorts of options, including hoodies. This is the first time I’ve looked. There’s lots to see there.
Thanks 🙂
