Please pray for the soul of my most beloved uncle James, who died aged 88.

Please pray for me too. I have been looking after him day and night for two months and i am traumatised by the violence of his passing. He died at home with me and it was nothing like the movies. I can’t understand why such a good, holy, devout, kind and loving man would have such a terrible death.

Please pray for us bo.th

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your uncle. Praying for the repose of his soul, and that God grant you comfort and peace during this very difficult time.

Praying for the repose of your uncle James’s soul. Praying for your intentions as well.

Thank you for your diligence towards him at the end of his life. I’m sorry that it was traumatic. 😦

Praying for the repose of your uncle’s soul. And praying for you after being a caretaker in his final days.

Remember, Lord, those who have died and have gone
before us marked with the sign of faith, especially for
James whom we now pray for.
May James, and all who sleep in Christ, find in Your
presence light, happiness and peace.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Eternal rest grant unto James O Lord, and let perpetual
light shine upon him.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the
mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

Father of all mercies and God of consolation, You love us eternally and
transform the shadows of death into the dawn of life. Look upon our
grief; be our refuge and comfort so that our sorrow may turn into the
Light and Peace of Your Presence.
In dying, Your Son destroyed death; in rising he restored life. Grant
that at the end of our earthly pilgrimage we may be found in his
company with all our brothers and sisters. There, You shall wipe away
every tear. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

A servant is not greater than his master.Your Uncle seems to have gone through somewhat of the kind of struggles our good, holy, devout, kind and loving Jesus did. Maybe James’ holy life and deathbed struggles were enough to get him through that narrow door and into heaven and eternal reward. Where he is enjoying his just rewards.

You are good to feel it so deeply. Your cross is not without merit either. I will nevertheless pray for James. And you.

Without telling you what exactly, I am in need of prayer and help myself. AND …

A dear cousin who lives nearby and alone has also had life threatening problems stack up on her (rather like your James). Terrible illness, great expenses, possible loss of home, troubles breathing and walking – her troubles make mine seem quite small by comparison.

May the Lord grant you peace of mind and heart … and may eternal rest and light be upon James. In the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers and your words of encouragement. It means a lot and i will include you in my prayers too.

Praying for you and your uncle with a Divine Mercy Chaplet. God bless.

Dear Zeno,

Death can seem violent to us for many reasons, even when the dying person is not suffering. I know your loving presence comforted James. Please try to be at peace. I will pray for you and for James daily.

O Holy Trinity, Eternal God, I thank you for allowing me to know the greatness and the various degrees of glory to which souls attain…O Lord, immerse my soul in the ocean of Your divinity and grant me the grace of knowing You; for the better I know You, the more I desire You, and the more my love for You grows. Amen.

I am so grateful for your continual prayers, God bless you all.

I found an article on a website of the Orthodox church in Syria which I found really helpful and inspiring. I’m posting the link here as other people might find it as helpful and beautiful as I am finding it. I
It has helped me to come to terms with a lot, and i’ll just quote the last few lines to give you an idea:

If we turn to God, if we turn to prayer, if we strive to fulfill the blessed commandments of Christ, that painful death can be the onset of a more beautiful life, a life even closer to God. And that will give us, another reason, perhaps the most important of all, for being grateful for the beloved one who is now asleep in the Lord.
