If it is necessary, then no, it’s perfectly acceptable. If it’s not necessary, then you’re probably not sinning, since you’re really not causing people to work (since there is still demand for necessary travel), unless it interferes with your ability to attend Mass, in which case, the culpability depends on the degree of non-necessity.

However, I’m not an expert, so, ask a confessor.
