We’re often told that when we endure suffering for the sake of our faith, we are “laying up treasure” in heaven. Obviously this is not treasure in the sense of some kind of natural good. What would be precious, rare, or strictly “mine” in the afterlife? While this may be unknowable, I ask for your speculation.
hope this makes sense, bit of a lot of verses, anyway…
Christ is treasure
2 Corinthians 4:6-7
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,
hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of
Jesus Christ. And we have this
treasure in earthen vessels,
Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known
what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
suffering to the loss of me (dead in Christ),
laying down our lives in many different ways for others
Matthew 16:24 "…If any man will come after me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father,
and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters,
yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Philippians 3:8 "…I have **suffered the loss **of all things,
and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ
Matthew 10:39 “…he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ
die and gain Christ and his eternal life…treasure
Colossians 3:4 "When Christ, who is our life, shall appear,
then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
