OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - For prices starting at $50, two nonfederally recognized Indian tribes are offering membership to thousands of illegal immigrants, claiming they can achieve legal status by joining the groups.

But immigration authorities insist becoming a tribe member gives no protection against being deported. And immigration advocates condemn the practice, saying it defrauds immigrants of money and gives them false hope.

:rotfl: “Nice” moneymaking project for those who like to commit fraud. I say PROSECUTE them. Only problem is that their victims would fear coming forward.

On the other hand, many Mexicans marry in quite comfortably, but that is a totally different issue.

Those who cozy up to Natives in order to make them dependent on them, then exploit them for everything they can get, are certainly a problem. Major hypocrisy. 😦 Better to watch for such problem people. For some that is easier than others.:o
 
I don’t see a problem. Native American Nation wants population. Population in excess of what Other Nation can support wants nation to be part of. Deal? Why not? It sounds like everyone concerned wins.😃
 
The problem occurs when those who buy the “memberships” use the status as a dodge to avoid paying taxes on cars or buying insurance on them. We have far too many uninsured drivers without this device to make it legal.
 
well lets see…maybe opening up casinos would be a good job for these illegals…that way robbing the white eyes could continue for decades…gambling is an evil as bad as drugs and demon rum…as a child of Italian immigrants I feel for anyone fleeing a bad country…Italy was taken over by marxists in 1870! I have found many folks from foreign nations to be hard workers…in many cases,european immigrants are socialist to the core…and have ruined this nation…being from the northeast I can witness to that…we need more Catholic Christians from south of the border…but they must pay into the system not use and abuse it…Nino

So the issue is car insurance? I remember before that was required. I don’t recall anyone having a problem with it. Why is car insurance the law now, anyway? And how is it any of the USA’s business what immigration policies other nations have? I’m confused.
