Hi, the wife, kids and I are going on vacation and we are looking for recommendations for Tridentine mass in Chicago. Thanks in advance, so far I have found…

St. John Cantius Parish cantius.org/

Well, i don’t live in Chicago and haven’t been to any TLMs there, but as a “fan” of the Extraordinary form, I would absolutely LOVE the oppurtunity to attend mass at St. John Cantius Parish, due to its importance in the movement to maintstream the TLM and its support of the reform-of-the-reform

Wow, I remember St. Gelasius parish from years ago. That whole neighborhood seemed to be rundown or declining and yet the parish plant was beautiful. The food pantry was important.

Looks like the Cardinal put it to a good purpose.

The SSPX are located in Oak Park, if anyone is interested. It is a converted old Protestant parish building, the oldest continuously served TLM in Chicagoland. 410 Washington Boulevard, Oak Park IL 708-524-2408

There is also St Thomas More parish at 81st and California. 773-436-4444

I’ve never been to St. John Cantius, but last week I attended my first EF at one of their apostolates, St. Peter’s in Volo, IL. It was a Missa Cantata, and gorgeous. I can’t imagine what their masses in Chicago are like, where they probably pull out all the stops.

St. John it is.

Anyone here from St. John? We will be at mass Aug 10th.
Very good choice.

I sometimes drive from southern Wisconsin to attend the EF there. Each time I go, I am more and more stunned at the beauty that is known as the church, and at the beauty and reverence with which they celebrate the Mass.
