What was it that PAUL VI said…somthing about the smoke of Satan./…

It wouldn’t be a bad thing to have these type of Masses, IF (and only if), they were used as an oppurtunity to preach conversion and a proclaimation that the Church calls all those afflicted with the disorder of homosexuality to a celibate lifestyle.

I can imagine John Paul letting something like this slip under the radar, but I suspect Benedict is fully aware of it.

The available reporting suggests this as well.
A leading gay Catholic campaigner claims that the Cardinal had to obtain the backing of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome, the most powerful of the Vatican’s departments, before taking his sensitive decision.
Mark Dowd, the chairman of Quest, a liberal group, said that the statement issued by the Cardinal was repeatedly rejected before gaining final approval.

If Cardinal Levada at the CDF gave the green light for this, I think this will produce a fair amount of disappointment with Benedict.
