I had not seen this news posted here yet, and thought it would be welcome news to many:
catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0802661.htm

Dated May 15, 2008:
“The Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, reported May 15 that Cardinal Camillo Ruini, papal vicar for Rome, recently designated the Church of the Holy Trinity of the Pilgrims as a parish where the pre-Second Vatican Council liturgy will be celebrated exclusively. The newspaper said the cardinal had entrusted the church to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.”

This would signal that EF-only parishes are in fact allowable, if a sufficient number of faithful who wanted one were to warrant one in a particular diocese. I would think that in one of the big-city dioceses, it could happen.

Technically the chapel that I attend is an oratory, but the bishop approves of it, and it the EF is the only kind of Mass that is celebrated there. The chapel that I attend is in a medium sized town.

I attend a parish ran by the FSSP that only offers the Traditional Mass. It was raised to full parish status only last year.

That is very interesting. It seems that the presence of an EF parish could both sharpen the Liturgy (practice makes perfect!) and enrich the local Catholic community. I could picture OF in the morning, EF in the evening, or vice-versa. I would love to have that option!

The Church I attend regularly is also an oratory with the full blessing of our Bishop. It is TLM only and with the FSSP. We are also obliged to keep our membership in our territorial parishes where we are registered and maintain support there also.

The absolute best of both worlds. I feel very blessed.❤️

The parish I regularly attend offers both the OF and the EF.

Right now the Mass schedule is something like this:

Sundays
Sat 5:00PM Ordinary Form
Sun 9:00 AM Extraordinary Form
Sun 11:00 AM Ordinary Form
Sun 5:00PM Ordinary Form

Weekdays
Mon-Fri 12:00PM Ordinary Form
Mon 9:00AM Extraordinary Form
Wed 9:00AM Extraordinary Form
Tue 7:00PM Ordinary Form
Thu 7:00PM Extraordinary Form
1st Sat 9:00AM Extraordinary Form

There has been some talk of changing the weekday schedule to something like:
Mon-Sat 9:00AM Extraodinary Form
Mon-Fri 12:00PM Ordinary Form
Tue 7:00PM Ordinary Form
Thu 7:00PM Extraordinary Form

And eventually all of the Masses may be said “ad orientem” at the high altar. This was done at all of the OF Masses one weekend many months ago and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

I have to think that the EF will sooner or later come to our community. There is a gorgeous late nineteenth-century Church, albeit fairly small, which would be the perfect setting. And I know there is at least some interest. Right now the nearest EF is an hour away.

It doesn’t have to be in a big city. There is an FSSP parish in my Diocese in a small town-- Vienna, Ohio, Queen of the Holy Rosary. I have never been there, so I don’t know how many parishoners there are, but I have seen the church. It used to be a chapel, but now is a full-fledged parish.

Same here. Our church is classified as an Oratory. Our Bishop invited the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest to come and restore the oldest church in our city. Our consecration is planned for October and we are very excited to have a place where the EF of the Mass will be celebrated every day. 🙂
For the last couple of years we have been renting space from our very gracious brothers and sisters at another parish, so it will be nice to finally have a place of our own.

Been that way here since October 13, 2000. Not even necessary to be a “parish”- just be a mission of a parish like we are that has no boundary.

We have daily Mass, two Sunday Masses - with one being a “High Mass” with Gregorian Chant and incense - ALL sacraments are administered in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. EVERYTHING is 100 percent Extraordinary Form - and staffed by a Diocesean priest.
