Are the 3 persons different activities of god? If I’m understanding this right there’s one in three and three in one right? The holy spirit dishes out the graces or I’ve heard Mary gives out graces. That must be some form of mariology. I found out that pornography is a grave matter so using it is obviously a mortal sin. Now how do you know if a lie is a mortal or venial sin? So I’m going to need absolution. Will it be the holyspirit rather than the father that bestows sanctifying grace at absolution or Fr. ? I know someone I lied to and bang just like that I haven’t felt right since. Grace must’ve left. Now I am dependant on my sister for transportation and I had a chance at absolution Sat. where we have absolution once a week. My sister said I couldn’t take her car to Mass. If I am wanting absolution and can’t get there and something happens to me do I go to purg. or hell?

That is not correct. God is three person with one nature.

Not exactly. Please read the section of the Catholic Catechism beginning at article 237.

If you didn’t know if a sin is serious, go to confession to find out. During confession the priest is acting on Jesus’ behalf.

The priest acts on the Church’s behalf, but he acts in persona Christi. By his sacred ordination, the priest is configured to Christ, to act in His person when dispensing the sacraments. This is a sacramental reality; the priest is not Christ sitting in his office all day, the priest is not Christ playing soccer on the field. The priest becomes Christ when he presides at the Mass and consecrates the sacred species, and the priest becomes Christ when he dons the violet stole and hears the confession of a penitent.

A lot can be learned of the three Persons of the Trinity by examining their myriad titles. God the Father, the Almighty, Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ, Son of God, Prince of Peace, Lamb of God, Savior, Light from Light. The Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, the Consoler, Spirit of Truth, Giver of Life.

Meditate upon these titles of the Persons of God and you will know them better. The Persons of the Trinity do not act separately but they act with one Divine Will. The Trinity is Love itself. We do not just say that God “has love” or God “gives love”, we say that God “is love”. The love of the Trinity is the love of the Father for His Son and the love of the Holy Spirit for the Father, it is perfect and eternal. It is this love that is reflected in the Sacrament of Marriage by husband and wife. It is this love that is reflected in our love for the needy or for our parents.

Sin originates from selfishness, from a failure to love, from evil influence. All sin is “missing the mark” or falling short, whether by comission or omission. A mortal sin is a deliberate turning away from God. If, in sinning, we deliberately choose to do evil and go down the path to perdition, we have sinned mortally. The poster above is correct. If you have doubts about specific sins, it is best to ask your confessor.
