Triskelion

A triskelion is that celtic three leg swirl thing that we see. I occasionally have to wear a Tux for work and I am wondering about what people think about the symbol. It is one of those pagan symbols baptized by the church but still used by pagans???

Thoughts. I am really on the fence. I would like to celebrate my heritage and my faith at the same time, but I don’t want to witness to ANYTHING but God.

Sure it’s minor, but what the heck?

It was Pagan, now it’s Christian. But…I recently learned, and hate to tell you, that it’s also considered to have another meaning: it’s a symbol of the BDSM community, standing for the three values of “safe, sane, and consentual.”

So, if you’re in an Irish (or Ukrainian, look up Trypillian and see how it connects to ancient Celtic design) crowd, they’ll get it. If you’re knowingly gong to be in a community where people are aware or practicing the BDSM lifestyle, I wouldn’t wear it.

90% of the events I wear a tux to are KofC or Catholic centered Charritable events. Not saying that some of these people are not into BDSM but I don’t think they would out themselves there and if they are discreet I can be too as I polietly decline them.

It was good info. If I buy them and someone comments I will understand and be able to respond …somehow… without just standing there and looking stupid.
