We have just learned **Congressional Democrat **leaders are trying to reinstate taxpayer subsidies of college birth control pills through the War Supplemental Appropriations bill, being debated in the Senate as I type.

Thus, our armed services will not be fighting only against terrorism but also to ensure frat boys and sorority sisters get cheap bc and their college “family planning” clinics get larger profits.

FWIW, the only thing I can find in the actual legislation and amendments is one attempting to restore some overall medicaid funding that has been cut, rolling back some regulatory changes for the stated purpose of drug cost control.

There is not one word about contraceptives, in fact the program she is condemning is a generic subsidy for presciption drugs. Although the stated purpose was to save tax payers money, the GAO and CBO determined that the regulations actually are creating drug cost inflation for the uninsured.

I haven’t read the whole CBO report, but I can’t follow the columnist’s connection to birth control, since she only cites her own columns for evidence. I’m not saying it definitely does not exist, I just can’t find it.

The ‘backs of the troops’ argument is disengenous. Attaching other things to the supplemental war time spending bills was standard operating procedure in the last congress as well. Besides, the GOP minority just blocked a ‘clean’ supplemental spending bill in the house. No objectionable amendments, just political manuevering.
