Tropical Storm Still Here

I am in the area where Fay has been stalled out. It’s been bad here, thousands of homes flooded, power outages, high winds…people being rescued by airboats because this ‘wasn’t supposed to be that bad’. Schools have only been open one day this week, Monday.

We’ve had almost 30 inches of rain so far. Weathermen are urging people to ‘adjust your attitudes’ before attempting to go out. Even driving through a flooded road could cause the wake to dump water into someone’s home.

Still in the thick of things…please keep praying for the Space Coast of Florida!!!:gopray2:
 
You and everyone affected are in my prayers! I just heard from one of my sister in laws and she lives near you–very very bad weather indeed…I was shocked. Here in Tampa, we literally have received nothing.

Looks like Fay is headed in our direction…but she may have weakened by the time we get her!
 
You definately have the prayers of the people in Houston. We suffered through Allison so we can understand what is happening. When a storm drops that much rain, there is no where for the water to go.

We’re getting the brunt of it right now in Seminole County… there’s a good bit of standing water in our back yard already… I’m hoping the nearby river doesn’t flood. 😦

We lost power this morning but have been steady this afternoon. Right now we must be in another ‘band’ of storms, it’s coming down hard again.

No school four days in a row…this is wreaking havoc with life, since I was supposed to start my new job this past Tues…I pray they’ll be understanding yet again!

RCIA was cancelled tonight as well, but then I was pretty sure it would be…our ditch is to the top, so we’ll have to watch for the flooding!
 
We’re getting some major flooding in our area… our back yard is 1/2 filled with water (we saw a turtle swimming over our grass!), and the river behind our house is well over it’s banks. It’s worse than the 3 hurricanes that hit us in 2004! :eek:
Thankfully we have flood insurance… but still.

Please continue praying for Central Florida… this is not good at all. 😦
 
At my house we’re ok, some streets are still flooded. We lost power yesterday for a time but it’s on now. Lots of debris, especially from dead palm branches. I saw some roofs with tarps. The place where I get my mail has water damage.

Just a little to the south in our county is total devastation. They are still evacuating those poor people who never imagined a little tropical storm could be worse than a hurricane!

I’m just grateful that our house is on a slight hill - others on the road are flooded in…

School resumes Monday…thankfully…
 
This storm has been so strange. It’s just lingering around forever. We had bad rains this morning, and mild rain on my ride home from work…maybe 40 mph winds…but nothing like you have had funnyyetsavvy. It is odd that it just skipped right over Tampa Bay, pretty much. I’m praying for you!

Yes, it’s been incredible. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. The whole thing just stopped over us for days…We feel battered, and I don’t mean like a chicken nugget!!!

I can’t believe how hard some neighborhoods were hit. They’ll never be the same.

And that woman from NY who actually went swimming with her husband during the storm and drowned - it’s so frustrating that it was so preventable.

I hope Our Saviour’s out on Merritt Island made it through - it’s been bad on the Island. And they just lost their sound system to a lightening strike…

But how stupid. I grew up in the Midwest, 1,000 miles from the ocean and I had enough sense when I was 10 years old not to go into the water during a storm, let alone a Tropical storm.

What a terrible price to pay for one moment of foolishness.

I know. She was 35, I think, and I suppose on vacation, and I’m sure they were determined to hit the Florida beaches. We get a lot of that during storms…DisneyWorld, the Ocean, Universal…“I’m not going to let a little rain spoil my expensive vacation”. So the hurricane flags are ignored, the police warnings to stay off the beach go unheeded, the state leadership begging people to stay indoors left unlistened to…

One horrible video captured by a news station at the beach was of people wind surfing as the storm approached. One man’s chute caught the wind, and as the camera rolled he was hurtled through the air, slammed to the ground then picked up again and hurtled through the air into a building. He ended up in critical condition with head and spine injuries and doesn’t remember what happened…

You said it. Tragic.

Oh my goodness! What a foolish thing to do and what a high price to pay for that foolishness. I pray he recovers.

Hope the worst of the storm is over by now.

please pray for my SIL’s family. My 4 yr. niece & 8 yr. nephew have been off from school due to the hurricane.

They are experiencing flooding in the neighborhood. Some roads are blocked off due to the high water. Their house is experiencing water coming into the living and dining room plus their pool is overflowing.

Phone lines and electricity are down until next week. She can only email us here in NY if the power does come back on for a few seconds. They already filed a claim w/the insurance company but still…

Pray that the storm moves so the entire area of Sanford can clean up and folks can work on repairing damage to their homes.

Looks like we’re going to be okay… there’s still flooding in our back yard and on the roads… but the major rain has stopped. Some of our neighbors have the river up into their back porches… and are concerned about further cresting in the next few days…
