Often throughout the day I forget that God is there. I always am so wrapped up and busy that I am always busy thinking. Unfortunately I have trouble remembering God.

While praying is good, I feel I get nothing out of it. I always rush through the prayers (its a bad habit), and I feel like I am just whispering words. I always pray the same prayers in the same order too. I find this very dull. I try to pray when I have free time, but I always have nothing to pray about, and I just keep repeating an Our Father over and over.

What are some tips to remember God throughout the day, and some tips for making prayer more meaningful (instead of saying the same prayers for the same people/reasons word for word everyday.)

Necklace? I have a St Chris one that remibds me…

Just slow down. If you know you are just mouthing the prayers, then stop doing it!

Two words: Mother Angelica!

Please take the time to watch that video, as it will help you to understand the value of simply conversing with God, as with a friend.

“When I pray, there should be a change worked in me. Why? Because, when I converse with God, I receive a part of God. That’s the essence of prayer.”

And, as Crusaderbear has alluded to, if you’re aware that you’re just doing something on the external, cut it out, and try make it more of an internal thing. Jesus wants our hearts. Externals are good only to help our hearts be more sincere and to draw us in a more meaningful manner towards Him.

Also, do give yourself a break. Do what you can, even if it’s a simple Jesus, I love you. In time, God will give you the graces of a deeper prayer life.

If you love someone, you want to spend time with them. You desire simply to be in their presence. You love just to be there and to listen to them. You do not write your feelings down and then read them off when time permits. You don’t settle for texted love notes. You slow down, rearrange your life and make the time to be with them. When that time comes, you speak to them from your heart - sometimes even silently by a glance, through a smile, or by your presence to them. But, you first must prioritize your life and your love to make this happen.

The greatest place on planet earth to slow down and express your love of Jesus Christ is before Him - in His presence. You have the most amazing opportunity to express your love of Him at adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. If you have never been to adoration, I heartily encourage you to just go and sit silently in His presence. Let your heart do the speaking and your spirit do the listening.

When you become aware that He is there, you will be changed.
