Trouble with public school

I am going to take a stab at dissecting this.

Is it really the public school you do not like or the bus stop? Do you have additional issues with the school - since you phrased it this way?

If you cannot sit in your car while you wait then step back and think of your options. If the choice is to start attending a Lutheran Church just for free education, listen to cuss words at the bus stop, or spend the extra money driving your child to school, why not really think about eliminating the aggravation from your life and make the drive. How far is it?

Think of all the peace you can have in the mean time with a quiet drive. You can spend the few minutes driving for some family prayer time with the kids. That’s what I do as I am dropping of my son daily.

In the mean time, you may even meet some nice moms who are dropping off their children at the same time.
good idea! 🙂

**hi delbra;

join a lutheran church so you can send your kids to school there? If that is what you are asking, I don’t think that would be a good idea. I am fortunate that we have been pleased with our public school system, but I’m confused as to what the public school system has to do with mothers using bad language at a bus stop? What is it about the school system that is not working for you? I know that with public schools, one can be exposed to a mixed bag. Just curious if there is something you could remedy by talking to the principal?

But, as for joining a non Catholic church, I personally would think that is a bad idea. For a few reasons. A) You’re Catholic 😛 and B) You wouldn’t be participating or tithing to that church
and C) I think you will feel a personal sense of inauthenticity by doing so…right now, it seems like an easy solution, but just because something is easy, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. The devil is filled with offering up easy things that tempt us from the Church. Not that the Lutheran faith is bad…it’s not. I have been to Lutheran services in the past, but I wouldn’t join a church that I don’t follow the core faith.

Just my two cents…I’ll be praying for a solution for you to come your way!:o **
thanks for the prayers i knew the answer i just had to hear it from someone else i just wish we could afford to send our kids to a Catholic school i want God in my kids school and they wont find him in public schools 😦 thanks for your help!

Your kids will find God from the teaching of two faithful practicing Catholic parents, from being taught the faith in your lives, every day. Don’t wait another day. Good Catholic friends, being involved at your Parish, knowing the Priest by name… youth group when they get older all are part of it. Bible study and prayer at home are vital.

Our son is a Sr, public school all the way. He is a faithful, devout young man. Prime reason, he has had witness of a faithful, practicing father and parents who have taught him the faith.

Some of the strongest Catholic teens I know went to public schools.

Usually that would be the wisest thing to do you know, just be like I am sorry but do you mind just you know restraining a bit on the language, my children don’t really hear that at home it would be greatly appreciated or something like that usually adults will look at me and be like OH OK I am sorry…sometimes it works other times they just look at me and walk away… 🤷
oh my goodness you people telling me i shouldnt have said “watch your mouth” all need to talke a step back and really look at what happened maybe you all did not realize what my twins hea’rd… imagine standing at the bus stop waving at you 5 year old the bus starting to move you start hearing this insane voice from the other side of the bus Fing B* then as the bus goes bye you see a women yelling at her son to get his fing A** back into the fing car the stupid B***wont let you get on the bus i’m sorry but their is something wrong with you people if you want me to believe you would just “walk away” come on people!!! i stood up for that poor little boy that was so ashamed with his poor little head down and my children and all of the other children that had to listen to that bad mother! i say shame on those that “just walk away” now that poor little boy knows that that’s not the way everyone talks to thier children!! are we a little liberal on here or what??

I agree. The “trying to get free tuition” angle is a much worse example for the children than the curse words./QUOT
to clear things up on here my husband and i did NOT pay for my girls to go to private school my mother and father in law did. It was the same amount of money to go to a lutheran school across the street than it was to go to a public preschool 12 miles away. And our house has been for sale i don’t knowwhere you people live, but houses are just not selling here if you want to help please pray for our house to sell 🙂 i would be very thankful:o

You said nothing of this in your original post, so how was anyone supposed to know that this happened? According to your OP, you were offended that your kids heard foul language. Now you say you were defending a child who was being verbally accosted by his mother. That’s a whole different story. If you were just upset that your kids overheard bad words, then yes, just walk away, or politely ask that they not use language like that in front of your kids. If in fact you really were trying to defend a child, then that’s a different thing altogether.

Your original question was whether it would be ok to join another church just to get free tuition for your kids. That would involve lying about your beliefs, and I believe it was that idea to which 1KE was responding. There’s nothing wrong with your in-laws paying for your kids to go to preschool at the Lutheran church.
I pray that your house sells quickly, and at a decent price.

**delbra–that’s great, I think, that you ‘stuck up’ for that child. How sad is that? A mom who calls him names, in public…can you imagine what the child endures privately? Ugh. Horrible.

I will pray for these moms that they be enlightened to how they are treating their kids, and the damage they’re doing–that they open their hearts to the Lord.

I will pray for you too, as I said. You did the right thing…I think that sometimes we second guess ourselves – even though deep down we know what we did was right. The ‘problem’ now is that you have to see that mom, the others…they sound intimidating.

If you are able to homeschool, I’d give it a go, if this continues. Or maybe really try to find a way to take your kids to school yourself. Ask God, and He will give you the right answer.

Have a good weekend…you don’t have to see those people for two days! 😃 👍 **

You have to pick and choose your battles. Bigger ones will come along. Like others suggested, why not just stay in the car until the bus comes or carpool with another family? These threads turn ridiculous when everyone starts shouting, “Just turn to homeschooling.” That’s a huge step for such a simple problem. Also, why are so many people trying to pluralize “moms” with an apostrophe?

Now I do have to agree with you. Not every mom is meant to homeschool. May be an option for some - but probably not most.

That said, it is still an option.
