greetings, if anyone could point me in the right direction where I would be able to obtain a true Catholic education and degree (since some colleges are questionable) and also, for older students (late 20s) who are going back to school with no credentials whatsoever. Thank you for your time!

What is it you want to study? Are you willing to move anywhere in the country? Are you limited by finances? What does “no credentials” mean – e.g., poor grades or test scores?

Ave Maria in Florida & Franciscan University in OH have been top listed Universities in US News - Also there is Aquinas in Cali - Christendom VA - Magdalen & Thomas More in NH.
Franciscan does do a good job of integrating and welcoming older students as well as those who are right out of high school but i would guess the others also do a good job of this as well. The link above to the Newman Society brochure pretty much sums up where you can go and grow in your Catholic Faith without worrying being taught false doctrine.

Good luck in your search!

hi there and thank you so much for your response! thank you to all as well 🙂

i want to study philosophy and theology, i am willing to move anywhere, and i am limited by finances… but i figured i could just borrow loans… no credentials… i suppose i meant that i have never taken any college entrance exams and my grades are average, Bs and Cs and I’ve only studied the basics and taken a lot of electives like dance and poetry.

You might find it helpful to look at this: ncregister.com/site/article/16007#_The_list

It has a list of colleges/universities that the National Catholic Register considers faithful. One thing they’re looking for is whether the theology faculty have the mandatum, which I think would be good for someone who wants to study theology.

At the same time, at least some of the institutions they list are not regionally accredited. I personally would avoid them since you may have problems later if you want to transfer to another school or pursue further study.
