How do we know that God made the Catholic Church to be the One, True Church? How do we know Peter was Catholic and the first Pope?

The creeds said the four marks of the Church are…One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic…explained further here…zuserver2.star.ucl.ac.uk/~vgg/rc/aplgtc/hahn/m3/Mod3.html

THE FOUR MARKS OF THE CHURCH
Understanding Our One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church…discusses the four defining characteristics of Christ’s Church and how these four marks are rooted in the ancient Christian Faith.

Because Jesus only founded ONE CHURCH, and that Church is the Catholic Church. Was there something that made you think otherwise?

All the first Christians were Catholic, and there were no other Christians that were not Catholic until 1054 when the Great Schism occurred.

All the successors of Peter today can trace the lineage of their ordination back to Peter.

I don’t believe there is any evidence to suggest the existence of a Deity.

However, I’m almost certain from everything I’ve read about the history of the Church and it’s early Fathers, that if there was a man called Jesus, and He was God, and He founded a Church, then that Church is the Catholic and/or Orthodox Church.

I also have to say, right now, I have found the Catholic Church to be the most internally consistent in terms of belief of all the Churches I’ve look into and investigated out of my interest in these things.

If, as an atheist, someone said to me what religion would I recommend they investigate, I would have no hesitation saying the Catholic or Orthodox religions before all others.

That’s not to say the others do not have validity or merit.

It’s just my own take on things - I’ve found the Catholic faith to be the one with the most consistency and historical credibility.

If I could believe in God and believe He came to earth and believe He founded a Church, I’d be a Catholic or Orthodox in a heartbeat 😃

I once felt compelled to tell a Mennonite that indeed, Catholics are Christians beacuse she believed otherwise. “Kinda the first ones”, I said. She denied it and walked off… ???
Jesus certainly founded One Church…

Great Question Maria - to add to everything that is posted look at the early church fathers as well and what they did

I mean we have writings from Ignatius, The Martyrdom of Polycarp, Irenaeus, , and many more who write about the Churche in the beginning of Christianity - well well over 1000 years before the protestant reformation - its clear they understood it as Catholics do today… below is a link to the actual writings as well as many more - God Bless

Many Christians have very little knowledge of the history of their faith.

Do I understand from this you recognize Jesus established the Catholic Church, it’s the underlined that you question?
