What I’ve taken from the book is this:

#1: Completely devote yourself to Mother Mary, and be willing to do whatever it is She calls you to do.

#2: Have complete faith in Mother Mary, and trust her 100%

#3: (here’s expressing your concerns) Christ is the ultimate end of all devotions, meaning that by devoting yourself to Mother Mary, you know that She’ll lead you to the Path that pleases our God, Jesus Christ. By pleasing our Mother and Queen through devotion to Her, you’ll please Jesus Christ. And by trusting in Her 100%, you know that She’ll help you through prayer to Christ and through the power that He gives Her. So by devoting yourself to Mother Mary, you’ll be seeking to please God and be lead to the Path that pleases Him the most. So, in essence, you’re devoted to Christ through devotion to Mother Mary. You’re the sheep, She’s the ultimate pastor, and Christ is the pasture She’s leading you to, so to speak.

#4: Mother Mary is simply an intermediary. She’s the mediatrix between man and Christ (just as Christ is the Mediator between man and God the Father). “To Jesus through Mary” best sums this up. Devotion to Her is knowing that She’ll pray for you, She’ll lead you to God, She’ll help you in your times of trouble out of Her motherly love, She’ll shower the Graces of God on you, and She’ll guide you and answer your prayers, because Christ has given Her this authority. Know that everything She does for you comes from Christ through Her.

She’s basically Christ’s Representative. Instead of talking to the King, you speak to the King’s Representative. The King’s Representative then asks the King to do what you asked if the Representative Herself can’t do what you asked out of Her own power. If the Representative can do what you asked, then it will be done by Her, with the mercy and consent of the King. By honoring the Representative, you’re honoring the King.

So She’s never worshiped here, and She never should be worshiped. She only should be honored and thanked. I usually say in thanksgiving “Praise you, my God, and thank you, my Mother”

Jesus told me that when I see Him, I see the Father. I strongly believe, that when I see Mary, I see the Son. Even when I gaze at the Holy Eucarist, I see Mary. God bless:thumbsup:👍👍
 
The pastor for the Church that I plan to make my consecration in has a strong Marian vein to him. I should be able to twist his arm to hear my confession on the same day I hear Mass :D!

I think it’s similar to First Saturday devotions in that you should go to confession and receive close to the 33 day. Try emailing Tony Mullen on his website and ask him. He would know better than me. Or the Monfort Spiritual Association (where you register once with Mary Queen of All Hearts):

if you give yourself to Mary with the intention of her giving you perfectly to Jesus (which is what this devotion is all about, God is the end of this devotion) - that is not worshipping her 🙂 this devotion is actually Christ-centered. Mary leads us to Jesus.

“True Devotion” is a Catholic classic! This saint lived in another era and speaks in a more "flowery"style. But the basic ideas offered by this saint can be applied today. If
you would like to read something more modern as some have suggested here I would recommend the Apostolic Letter titled ROSARIUM VIRGINIS MARIAE written by our late Pope and now Blessed John Paul II. It can be read on line and/or down-loaded by going to the following ural: vatican.va/holy father/john paul ii/apost letters/documents/hf jp-ii apl 2002. For what it is worth I was really inspired by a meditation in the May 2006 issue of Magnificat written by St.Louis de Monfort on the Holy Eucharist (p. 67) which I
have kept in my Bible.
 
There is a greater wealth than Pope John Paul II for papal encyclicals. Pope Leo XIII is the man to turn too. And Saint Alphonsus is also up there (I’m currently working my way through his Glories of Mary).
 
The big three books by St. Louis De Montfort are:
  1. True Devotion to Mary as discussed in this post. Also called True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin.

One other thought, The Legion of Mary, the largest lay Catholic group prays reverence to Mary and St. Louis De Montfort, (also mentioned earlier) who is a core saint to this organization. Here are the links:

Blessed Pope John Paul 2 had a great devotion for Mary - there’s an amazing photo of him being caught by Our Lady at the attempted assassination. Absolutely incredible! One wonders if it follows the prophecy at Fatima.

He “introduced” the spiritual motherhood of Mary as dogma - questioned, he replied it has always been part of the Church.
To love one’s mother does not mean we don’t love God. To love the mother of Christ, it is because she is his mother.
All Grace comes through Mary - as mediatrix and co-redemptrix. Without Mary, there could be no salvation.
 
I had a similar experience of having this devotion come into my life multiple times. Sometimes God enjoys bashing you over the head with something just to make sure you get the picture.
I discerned that yes, it was His will, and I went along with it. Consecrating yourself to Mary is one of the best things you can do. See JPII’s example!! There is a website where you can get free materials from, they will mail it to you. Pretty exciting. I’m sorry, but I can’t find the website for you! Ask Saint Anthony to help you find it…
This consecration not only helps you be more like Mary but helps you fall in love with Mary more and also helps you understand her role concerning Jesus more. I keep asking Jesus and Mary to change my heart and mold it to be like Mary’s and they have been answering my prayers. I consecrated myself specifically to the Immaculate heart of Mary because I fell in love. Mary will guide you. Ask her for some motherly guidance.

St Terese of Lisieux referred to herself as the rubber ball of God.

To consecrate yourself to Mary is a very healthy practice.

There was an enclosed monastery I went to overseas and was very upset because I couldn’t remember what my mother looked like. I asked the Novice Master if I could “adopt” Mary as my mother. He said it wasn’t appropriate, that it was bad theology! So even the Church seems to have mixed reactions on that one.

Embarrassingly he told me people have all sorts of relationships with Our Lady - something Dr. Sigmund Freud would revel in.
 
If we consider the Virgin Mary to be the Ark of the New Covenant Who is Our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I don’t think there should be a problem here.

The Flesh that Jesus has is taken from the Virgin Mary. She is truly the vessel by which Christ revealed Himself when He came into the world 2,000 years ago.

Just as she nurtured the Body of Christ then, so too she nurtures the Body of Christ which is the Church of Christ today.

She’s never too far away from Christ or His Church, praying, listening, nurturing as a true Mother does and as the pre-eminent member of the Communion of Saints.

She’s forever telling us to “do whatever He tells you.”

I don’t find it too far-fetched to see her role continue at the Second Coming of Christ.

For me, Marian devotion makes me want to LOVE JESUS MORE! She puts it into me to just reach out and kiss Her Son’s Feet and worship and adore our Incarnate God!

I can’t thank her enough for all she does for us. It is this Incarnational perspective that Louis de Montfort follows to bring us a comprehensive picture of the God-Man, Jesus Christ.

If that’s wrong, then I don’t want to be right.

His writings, in my opinion, belong to the heavy sentimentality of his era and do not speak to modern minds terribly well. Take a look at it, and if you find yourself just not “getting” it, don’t feel badly. You won’t be the first one.

I am sorry but I highly disagree with this. I read the book and although there are some things which I don’t get(He talks a lot about predestination but not from a calvinist perspective), St.Louis is a saint and this consecration to Jesus through mary is a wonderful devotion that if done faithfully will undoubtedly lead souls to heaven. And there is no fine line as St.Louis says “When we say Mary she says God”, She doesn’t keep the praises to her self but reflects them to God who gave her all her merits.
