I was taught that when the host decays, becomes molded and rotten, the true prescence is no longer in the host. Has anyone else heard of this?

The general understanding is that when the host loses the appearance of bread, regardless of the cause, it’s no longer the Precious Body.
That said, I would personally err on the side of reverence and make sure such an item is dealt with properly, such as dissolving it in water. Then pour the water outdoors or down a special drain for such purposes that doesn’t go to the sewer.

Just like once the host is digested inside you it ceases to be as well.

We don’t know this exact point. So, when in doubt (as always, with the Host) we dispose of it in a reverent manner. If we flush it down the drain, it mixes with the sewage in the septic tank or public sewer system. That is hardly reverent!
So we pour it into the earth, or a special “earthen drain” (basically a French drain, but it goes straight down and drains into the earth).
