I hope this is not a presumption that all Trump bashers voted for Hillary. I can assure you they didn’t.
I know a lot of people who voted for third parties.

Neither candidate even got 50% of the popular vote. I think that’s really telling.

Where have you noticed this narrative from Democrats?
I have never heard this.
Let’s put it this way.

I have seen opinion pieces in mainstream and respected media that quite seriously question whether one should continue being friends with or even keeping contact with family members who voted for DJT.

On Facebook, the majority of people who say “if you’re planning to vote for {insert name of candidate they oppose}, get off my friends list NOW” are Democrats.

Steven Hassan, who is an ex cult member and has written several excellent books about helping family members extract people from cults has a book out now on how to “deprogram” Trump voters.

You can look it up.

But where are the messages of peace and love and tolerance from Democrats to Republicans?

Again, it might be out there.
In fact, I’ll bet it is out there.
But it’s not coming from the vocal and powerful influencers.

Well, that is the documentation that I asked about.
Would you care to share?
In particular, it would be interesting to see if this is coming from “vocal and powerful influences”.

Voting for Trump in 2016 when he made promises to be presidentially boring and that he would tone down the divisiveness is one thing.

Defending him for everything he does is another thing.

People who criticize him are labeled Democrats, liberal, pro-choice and insufficiently pro-life.

Right now there’s a pandemic and mass death. Horrifying amounts of deaths. I grew up in NYC and lived there when there was high levels of crime, I remember 8 murders a day being the average. That was significant.

Now it’s the epicenter with thousands of dead and its only April. And trump tweets assigns blame, acts divisive. Practically inexistent words of compassion.

But he still gets defended.

Imagine after 9/11 if George W. Bush would have acted this way? I remember 9/11 when it was projected that their could be tens of thousands of dead because if the towers were at full capacity they could hold almost 100,000 occupants.

Imagine President Bush saying, “ well 5,000 dead is good because it could have been 75,000. I consider that a success.” It would have horrified people.

Almost 40,000 dead. These are people, our parents, our siblings, our kids.

He could stop the divisiveness. He’s chosen not to.

With all due respect, I think you’re just playing.

But to be fair, if you go back and read the articles and opinion pieces and statements from the politicians, they’re ALL making this into a political football.

Democrats and Republicans.

I’m not defending anybody. In fact, I’m sick of it. But you can’t play the pretending game where you insist that all the ugly is coming from only one side.

I’m only going to reply once, and it’s for the sake of the bystanders.

What you are doing is a variation of the “burden of proof” game, which itself, is a variation of the “stonewalling” game.

You’re not a newbie here. You’re a frequent poster. There are abundant examples on this forum of the distain the mainstream media, Hollywood and academia have for anything conservative leaning.

But you pretend not to see it.

Which is your prerogative, of course but I’m not going to play.

And now I’m done replying to you on this thread until you stop the games.

Uhm what are you trying to say?
That Trump’s incompetence was always much more evident and disqualifying than the largely exaggerated “corruption” from the Hilary campaign. Certainly people didn’t find Hilary’s campaign exciting, and this was reflected in the polling, but I don’t think we should confuse mass appeal with qualification for the job.

Cuomo, dialed back the number of subway trains in order to save money. He did this in March of this year. So while already elbows to a… he made the problem even worse. He chose to spend funds several years ago that could have provided ample ventilators ,etc on solar panels instead.
Now he’s wining and begging for help as though he didn’t play a central role for n what’s going on and n NY.

But that - leaving aside the hyperbole - is not what we have been talking about. We were talking about the idea that
a bunch of stupid and knuckle-dragging republicans woke up one day and declared “let’s elect DJT as president just for the LOLZ! And for no apparent reason!”
I am not a newbie; I do not recall seeing things like that here, or “from the vocal and powerful influences” in the serious press.
“burden of proof” game
I don’t think that supporting critical comments is a game.

If I understand what you’re driving at, you’re positing that HRC lost mostly because of the email server issue?

More probably Clinton was blindsided by the announcement of investigation of Weiner’s laptop just 11 days before election. Her lead dropped dramatically.

I think that was true in the beginning, but what I get from my fellow Democrats right now is a confusion in how to satisfy his voters. Again, most Democrats I know are taking a regionalist approach to things. Many expect to lose 2020, but what they will win is their local elections.

I don’t demean his voters, I don’t think Democrats are offering them a solution. I think Trump offered them manufacturing and energy jobs and I hope they got that. But again, the worlds are so different as of yet there is no bridge.

No, the Democrat leaders have learned NOTHING and they refuse to learn. And I am a Democrat.

Actually, I don’t think Hillary Clinton was a bad choice. You may disagree with her policies but that is a different issue. And you may dislike her personally, for whatever reason, but that too is a different matter. She certainly has a lot of experience and was a good, hard-working New York Senator. We would be fortunate to have someone as good this time around. If Joe Biden were not cognitively in decline and had some innovative ideas (not necessarily leftist), I would say he was not such a bad choice either. But these are major drawbacks, and, as it stands, I am not inspired by Biden and am less so by Trump.
