Just when you think the bar can be set no lower…

It’s positively subterranean now.

Certainly a speculative statement.

It is worth noting that some of Mr. Gugino’s blog and Twitter postings (which have since been deleted or made private) apparently had an anti-police orientation to them, and referred to his previous arrests. This information is easy to find via an internet search, but I am not going to post a link to it because of the use of strong language.

It appears that some believe there is further evidence to more strongly support the President’s theory, but that is outside the realm of what can be clearly determined, and moves more into the realm of speculation.

Regardless, we should pray that all turns out well for both of them, and for an end to our disunity.

Gosh. And there was me thinking that all these millions of people were out supporting police methods and attitudes. Now you’re telling me that someone was actually protesting against them? Well, that Catholic septuagenerian deserved everything he got (which was a couple of days in intensive care). That’ll teach him to protest!

I’ll bet he’ll now think twice about his membership of PUSH Buffalo, which focuses on affordable housing, and Western New York Peace Center, a human rights org.

Another small step on the path to making America great again.

No lower level this president stoops to surprises me!

I’m glad I don’t have to down a shot every time that thought occurs to me.
But, but, he is “pro-life”.
He’s tarring and feathering the movement by association, because the integrity to call the Chosen One on his misbehavior and out-and-out falsehoods is just not there.

I don’t care who he is or even if it was all staged, a decent person does not just leave somebody laying on the pavement when he might have been badly injured. Who else could help him? Nobody.

Do you mean this one or the one about the location of Barack Obama’s birth? Yes, I’m sure he has investigators on it, and they “can’t believe” what they’re finding. (How gullible does he think we still are?)

You know, sarcasm is really not as easy to pull off as you seem to imagine. It is 2020. Be careful.

It’s like satire. Difficult to pull off these days. Things are so crazy that nobody can tell if you’re serious or not. There should be a special font (comic sans?) you could use.

I think the old forum had the facility to change fonts.

The ‘shots’ comment was laugh-out-loud…

Disgusting.
I hope Gugino sues Trump for defamation.
(he’ll have to stand in line…there are many others)
In his tweet, the President was careful to stay in rumor-mongering mode…“could be”…“appearing to”…“Could be a set up?” so he probably won’t file a suit.

When I offer a comment I make it plain what I mean to say. “Make your yes be a yes and your no be a no”. I have known passive agressive people who think they are smart and cool to be sarcastic or snide and I don’t buy it.

It’s a fault I have. And it rarely comes across well in a post. But if I posted what I actually did want to post then Freddy would be in the naughty corner in no time at all. It’s my relief valve on ocassion.

right back at you.
What did you mean?
I think it was in support. Though I had to check some of vivs posts to see if we were generally on the same page re the guy in the White House.

I watched the video and that older man appeared to persistently try to tap or hit something against the policeman’s hand. Catholic or not he seemed to be an agitator. It was weird and unsafe what he was doing. The police warned him and pushed him away.

I meant to say in my inept way I don’t feel comfortable with sarcasm and I generally refuse to participate in it.

Thank you for saying this, and for noting how people often think sarcasm is cool. It isn’t. IMHO it’s one of the worst ways to persuade anyone of anything.

Friends of the retired computer scientist described Gugino as a devout Catholic and a graduate of Canisius High School, a private Jesuit school in Buffalo, who is a passionate advocate for multiple causes on behalf of the poor and disenfranchised. Gugino spent his retirement lending a hand to multiple causes, among them Black Lives Matter.

“Martin has a passion for social justice,” said Mark Colville, who runs Amistad Catholic Worker in New Haven, Connecticut, and has known Gugino for years. “When he sees wrong he wants to be involved in making it right.”

Colville said Gugino made multiple trips from his home in the Buffalo suburb of Amherst to New Haven — a six-and-a-half-hour drive — to help prepare and serve meals at Amistad, a house of hospitality that describes its mission as “follow(ing) Jesus in seeking justice for the poor.”

Gugino never wanted to draw attention to his work, Colville said. He’s a private person who lived alone. He cared for his mother until she died, and he recently lost his sister, too.

Prayers for his speedy recovery and for those in power who have committed calumny against him.

Trump needs new fact checkers

his tweet
Buffalo protester shoved by Police could be an ANTIFA provocateur. 75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment. @OANN I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up?

Trump , being President should not be engaging in the shouda woulda coulda rhetoric. He is just stirring the pot and he knows it. He is about to start his campaign rallies again.

Mr. Gugino is a baptized Catholic. He supports organizations that oppose Catholic teaching, on issues like abortion. He has on social media expressed hatred of police officers. (Not just hatred of “injustice”)

The mayor imposed a curfew as a safety measure after the scheduled protest would end, because this is when violence, vandalism, looting occurred previous nights. After curfew ended, Mr. Gugino was apparently encouraging demonstrators to remain, conversing with his photographer, provoking the police, refused to follow curfew, got a light push, fell, and was calmly phoning his lawyer.

The mayor saw the video, concluded he was an agitator, some discipline or retraining needed for police. It was not the video, but the showing of this video (and not others) on the media that caused the mayor to flip flop, and criminal charges.

Some local people, who strongly support the demonstrators and have opposed Trump on everything, regard the indictments as mostly political.

Let’s pray for Mr. Gugino’s recovery but don’t make him into something he’s not. A few local police were hospitalized as a result of local riots.
