Trust No Man (Advice Worthy of Acceptance)

People are way too inconsistent and imperfect to put their trust in. Instead of trusting people, one should trust God.
 
There is somewhat of a difference between trust and obey, though.

We trust God.
We obey God.

Sometimes, we stumble and fail to obey God, yet we trust Him to “heal” us.

Sometimes, over time certain people we find are trustworthy. We trust them. If you go through life trusting absolutely no one, I suspect you will end up not trusting God either, but, of course, you could do that.

I will agree that God is the being you can implicitly and always trust.

One should always try to trust God in everything. I cannot imagine though going through life without trusting people. How could you not trust your mother and father, or your spouse? Yes I know there are instances when you may be hurt by someone, but that is part of life and you either forgive or move on. Parents,teachers, spouse and friends. One’s’ life should be enriched by some of them. The trust and wisdom of God should always be in the fore front. I wish you lots of friends in your life, ones you can take a step forward with and trust. God bless you::🦋🦋

That statement is too broad and lacking in context.

When we talk about “trusting people”, are we talking about trusting the Pope to lead the Church? Trusting our spouse to be truthful with us? Trusting our mom and dad to know what’s best for us when we are minors? Trusting some stranger on the street? Trusting a talk show host like Kathie Lee Gifford to give us advice about religion?
 
JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU.

Jesus established His Church and put His Apostles in charge and they grew the Church assigning various responsibilities to many others. We are to trust them because they are Christ’s chosen leaders.

Yet, any person can mislead out of ignorance or a desire to lead astray. So we should always trust but verify. Verify in the sense we constantly seek to learn more about our Faith.

For every thousand Catholic leaders and teachers, there may be 3 or 4 that should be challenged least we be lead astray. Quite often we get too concerned with too little knowledge of what a leader or teacher actually said. So much is presented to us that was taken out of context. Some of us want what we want and are too quick to find fault and dismiss any who disagree with us.

So, while there is always some risk, the odds are quite strong that I can trust our Church leaders because Christ gave the Church the Holy Spirit to guide us until He returns.

God Himself said it through His prophet Jeremiah. “Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.”

We aren’t supposed to rely on people. We are supposed to put our confidence in God that He will lead those in authority to make the right decision.
 
Then I’ll pray that your heart opens to trusting. I don’t know what has happened in your life. I hope no one hurt you so much to make you feel the way you do. As you said one should trust God. If God is the only one you trust, you can’t go wrong. Take care of yourself and God Bless::🦋🦋
 
That would mean we shouldn’t trust a priest or spiritual director for advice. Or for a doctor for his diagnosis.
 
Well, a priest and spiritual director are human. Not God. Why bother with them and just ask God directly? Their advice could be impaired.

EDIT: I’m saying this because at a surface reading, you’re saying we should trust no one. If we trust no one but God, then we shouldn’t trust what anyone says. Don’t trust what your spouse says, your priest, your doctor, etc.

The verse is taken as a whole: NOT LIKE YOUR OP.

Both flesh and heart have complex biblical meanings and in the verse trust is bound together with those. So it has nothing to do with your OP.

We do not have a complete thought until we have the full sentence. One can trust in man. But the danger is trust AND making flesh his strength AND whose heart turns away from the LORD.

No Apostle tried to tell us to make flesh our strength or to turn our hearts away from the LORD.

Jesus Christ was TRUE GOD AND TRUE MAN. Are we not to trust Christ because He is true man?

Gotta read the entire sentence and not limit our understanding to a phrase taken out of context.
 
Jesus is God with a human nature and divine nature. He’s not a mere mortal last time I checked.
