Where is the line between trusting God and testing Him?

If it matters, this has to do with family size choices…

Is it psychological, whether an action is testing and therefore at least somewhat sinful? If an action is arguably foolish but still faithful, is it trusting even though a big part of you “knows better”?

We’re friends with a Protestant “quiverfull” family and I chide myself over my apparent lack of faith when I see their choices. And yet I can’t bring myself to make the same choices.

I think part of my constant “I’d like to have another baby, God, but when?” is basically biological, but I’ve been given a will to go along with that biological wiring, but sometimes, gosh, I wish I didn’t have that will.

We know things are going to change for the better for us. It just won’t be for another few years. Having a baby on purpose right now, rather than waiting, feels a little like trying to force God’s hand. I’m not sure how to discern between prudence and faithlessness.

No one knows. There are people who have no children and I knew a couple who had 24 children.
It is your choice and God will stand by you.
The future? No one knwos, not even the Protestant Family.
Only God knows.
