Hello, I am new here and I am not sure how you go about asking a question, or how one should word a question. My question is simple. When someone who claims to be psychic contacts you with news that claims to be beneficial to you, how does one know if the psychic speaks the truth, and that God has truly sent this person to help you, OR if this person is sent by the devil to tempt you into believing something that may not be true in hopes for you to part with your hard earned money?

On a basic human level I am confident in saying it most assuredly is a scam.

On a spiritual level, psychics are incompatible with our Christian faith.

Catechism:
2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
If you want to discover what’s beneficial for your life then pray, reflect, receive the sacraments, and love God above all else and your neighbor as yourself.
