My husband and I have only been trying to conceive for three months, this month is our fourth month of trying. I am really struggling with worrying about not being able to conceive even though I realize we are fairly early in the process. My husband is completely supportive, but sometimes he just does not understand how difficult this is for me. We would appreciate any prayers and I would appreciate any advice from mothers who have been though the process and can give any advice and/or encouragement.

With our first, it took six months, and by the time I finally got pregnant, I had given up and almost forgotten we were trying.

Your feelings are very normal.

By the way, have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility or a similar book? The author has a lot of testimonials from couples who had almost instant success. With my third, I had read the book and also found myself almost instantly pregnant, despite the fact that I was well into my 30s at the time.

Best wishes!

I actually ordered that book online a couple days ago and am waiting for it to come in the mail now! I am also new to charting and trying to figure it out on my own. I have a question about taking BBT’s too. I do not wake up at the same time every day. Sometimes I wake up at 8am and other days it isn’t until 11am. Since I do not work, it largely depends on my husband’s schedule, which is irregular. I have read that you should take your temp at about the same time every day within a half an hour. Since I do not want to disrupt my husband’s sleeping schedule with an alarm. My question is, will my temping be inaccurate if I take it when I first wake up even if the time is more than a couple of hours different each day?

Three hours is probably pushing it, but I’ve had surprisingly consistent results with wakeups at different times (but not all the way to 11 AM).

You don’t have to do a temperature literally every day, and for achieving pregnancy, the mucus sign is actually rather more helpful. By the time the temperature rises, prime time is probably over.

(I would give different advice for avoiding, by the way–this is purely advice for achieving.)

Please try not to worry, if you can, Den, stress can sometimes impede conception.
Xantippe’s experience of conceiving when she relaxed about conceiving isn’t unusual.

If you are trying for a child, do you need the added pressure of keeping track of your fertility?
When trying not to conceive that seems to me to make sense, but when trying for a baby after such a short period of marriage, it might help your chance of conceiving if you let things happen naturally.

I conceived three children only 17 and 19 months apart quite naturally without keeping track of fertility.

Unless your failure to conceive is long-term, would you be more relaxed to just allow things to happen when they happen for at least the first year? Tracking your fertility is causing you distress because so far it isn’t working, and the stress is complicated by not wishing to disturb your husband. Your peace of mind is suffering.

God may send you that beautiful unique little person at the right time.

Just a thought, anyway, others mightn’t agree.

God grant you the children He desires to give you.

Warm wishes,

Trishie

I’d maybe revise that depending on her age. If it’s 25, just have fun! If it’s 42, maybe be a little aggressive?

Have you considered using the Clearblue monitor, or at least some other kind of OPK? We used it only because I needed to know ovulation date because of medication I was on that is unsafe during pregnancy, but it helps a lot of couples. It still took us a few months, but it was very useful.

Xantippe is right that temping in order to achieve is more helpful after the fact, but if you’re trying to get pregnant you want to know about impending ovulation. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book, and I’m sure you’ll find it helpful.

Reported. All five of this person’s posts have been promoting this “cure” for infertility–that works within 60 days, too! Wow, I had no idea infertility was so easy to fix…
