Thatā€™s so hard šŸ˜¦ On her 1 year baptism anniversary you could dress her up in a pretty dress and get someone to take a photo of the three of you in your church (possibly even get the priest/deacon who baptized her to pose with you and give her a blessing). It wouldnā€™t be the same, but at least it would be something to put in her baby bookā€“ā€œOne year of being in Godā€™s family!ā€
that is a really good idea!!!šŸ‘ šŸ˜ƒ

I took our granddaughter to Sears BEFORE the big day. That way, when the wreath on her veil tilted to one side, or when she wanted to wear her ā€œcomfortableā€ glasses instead of her ā€œdressyā€ glasses, it was no big deal.

But, I was not looking for a photo of her actually receiving. Those arenā€™t allowed in our parish (along with videotape or any photos after the children enter in procession). Iā€™m sorry you didnā€™t get what you wanted.

I have blurry blobs of my daughter being confirmed, if thatā€™s any comfort to you.

For some reason I had it stuck (I mean stuck) in my head of this particular pic. Last year at the parish down the road my neice had her pic taken as she recieved. I guess I just expected that, but I do have some really sweet and beautiful pics of her after Mass with my family so I am happy!!šŸ˜ƒ šŸ˜ƒ ā€¦She was just sooo beautiful in her dress, i just may have some made at a sudio!

Not a single picture of Sophieā€™s baptism turned out. Our camera broke that weekend and by the time Fatherā€™s day rolled around and I bought a new one, she had also outgrown her baptismal gownā€“so, I couldnā€™t even fake it unless I chose to go buy another gown and re-create it, which seemed sort of wrong. So, we donā€™t have any pictures of her, video of her, nothing, being baptized into the Church. Funnily enough, I comforted myself the same way CatholicSam suggestedā€¦by reminding myself that many years ago, Iā€™d be lucky to have even one photograph of her entire childhood, much less all the captured moments I have of other things. Itā€™s hard, though. I was just looking at her baptismal gown the other day and feeling sorry for myself about it. šŸ˜›
**The same thing happened with Lily. Both family members with a camera decided to shoot video instead of taking any pics so we donā€™t have any shots of her baptism at all! And she was crying so hard that we just got through the ceremony and leftā€¦didnā€™t think about pictures.

I like CatholicSamā€™s idea of making sure to get some great shots of her baptismā€™s 1 year anniversaryā€¦thanks!**

She will not be little forever. And things like hurricanes and grape juice can happen to family heirlooms.

Olan Mills, Wal-Mart, and Sears offer some fantastic packages., really good work and really reasonable.

you could always get a still pulled from the video:) if you wanted something to frame

**You know, i was wondering about that. I havenā€™t had time to look it up and see if itā€™s possible. Thanks! Is it something I can do or do I need to find a professional?

There are no pictures of my First Communion at all and thatā€™s okay. All that matters is that I did recieve Our Lord. The whole First Communion show has really gotten way out of hand in the US.

When our youngest was Confirmed last fall, we couldnā€™t even SEE her! It had to do w/ where she and her sponsor were seated and people standing when they should have been sitting.

Plus, the one person assigned to take photos was not quite ready and since our dd was near the front, there were no pictures either.

Thatā€™s life. --KCT

We too would not be able to take photos during the consecration or when one receives the Eucharist. I am also of the mindset that it may not be appropriate to take these types of pics during Massā€¦but then again I know I would want that pic of my daughter!

Perhaps your story and others stories here of the ā€œphotos that never wereā€ are mysterious works of God and the Holy Spirit?

I am of the opinion that some things may be too sacred and intimate for photographsā€¦that does not mean my opinion is better than yours, just different thatā€™s all. I would not want a photograph of certain moments. Your daughter was able to receive and have a quiet intimate moment with Christ, without a photographer snapping a photo of it. I know it is not what you really desired but it is what happened and perhaps there is a reason for that beyond the photographer just forgetting?

I could be wrong of course but I always like to consider that possibility in my life, when I donā€™t get what I want. Perhaps God wanted it different for a reason. Hope this helps and congratulations to your daughter on a most sacred and beautiful occassion!
You said it perfectly!! I have been thinking that the God has His reason (wether it be that it should have not been taken at that moment or He is trying to teach me something-either way is fine with me now!!). They joy in the fact that my dd is now recieving our Lord has totally erased any annoyance about the pictures!! DD even ASKED to go confession (which of course we took her!! actually dh and I went too!šŸ˜‰ ) because she knew she had sinned (as much as a 6 year old could anywayā€¦šŸ˜‰ ). I was so proud that she knew she sinned and had contrition for them and knew that she had to go to confession!! Some adults dont even realize or acknowledge their sinfullness and here is a 6 yo that does!! I am sooo very proud of her!!!šŸ˜ƒ (ā€¦ok sin of pride here!!!šŸ˜Š )
Thank you all so very much for all of the (name removed by moderator)ut!! I really appriciated it!!!šŸ‘

ā€¦that it a shameā€¦ At least you can take comfort in the fact that she is confirmined. Right know I am trying to get my 16 year old Goddaughter to go to RCIA. She not been to CCD since FHC!!! Her parents have not allowed her to go till now. Anyway, she has a new car but still needs me to go with her!!! I guess whatever it takesā€¦

This has nothing to do with receiving Communion, but when DH and I were married we hired a videotographer and none of the ceremony came out! All black and white static. Then NONE of our Honeymoon pix came out! And when I say they didnā€™t come out I donā€™t mean blurry, I mean NOTHING-NADA
So, those were two very special events that I wanted captured but for some odd reason things happened and we ended up with nothing but the memories. In some ways I guess thatā€™s good because all my memories are good ones and I can tell people about it in great detail without having to look at a picture and sometimes thats even more fun šŸ˜‰
Plus, DH and I have been happily married for 9 Years in a few weeks šŸ˜ƒ
So I guess itā€™s really not about capturing the moment, but living it.

BTW, Congratulations!!!
