I agree with this. Coming at this from the male perspective, I think a man in this situation who saw marriage in the future would not be uncomfortable with you mentioning it. In fact, when I was considering popping the question to my wife, I took that as a sign that she wanted me to propose, so I went for it.

We are both 24 right now, although he will be 25 in a couple of months. We are still young, but through the lens of trad Catholics I do feel like we’re at the “right” age to talk about this sort of thing

Hmm…I feel a lot might be a little too hard on the lad! He sounds like he just wants to be sure, the Sacrament is a very important thing, and it lasts the entirety of life.
Sadly that means he may also be indecisive.
Give it some time. Maybe just ask him to pray about it, if he doesn’t want to talk with you about it.
